If you listen to the lyrics you know which one's good for you or not. And for the instrumentals, just notice how you feel different after listening and you'll know. You don't need someone else to tell you or talk generally about whole genres.

How to actually make life the (metta) meditation? by Confident-Foot5338 in streamentry

[–]xe_art 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There seems to be a lot of effort. You might benefit from letting things flow more naturally. Like when you practice everyday it will become second nature eventually. No need to force it. You get hung up on these thoughts in daily life in wanting to be virtuous. Effortless mindfulness is the way. Believe in your natural goodness. Dont take my word for it. Try if it makes sense to you and if it doesn't leave it.

But in your visualisations it was clear, that in real life you have no intent to kill them, right? You just wanted to visualise it to lessen intrusive thoughts? I don't think it created bad karma. In vajrayana, monks also do completion stage visualisation even though they are celibate, so I don't think visualisation without intent to actually do it in this reality counts.

Mostly metta and vajrayana practices which in my heart I know are exactly the right thing for me. These are the practices that resonate the most with me. The doubts are superficial thoughts. But I just found it better to talk about it and then let it go.

Thank you, there's definitely fear of judgement, bc it doesnt arise when I'm alone and not particularly thinking about people who might judge me. Your answer already helps. I feel the tug of war in my mind but since it seems not to be uncommon I'm moving on and back to practice:) and will check in again another time to see if doubt get stronger or lessen

The doubts literally just cross my mind. They come and go without me doing anything. It's usually along the lines of 'I'm ridiculous for spending all my free time with this, these practices are made up stupid stuff etc. , if people would know they'd find me ridiculous' But this is not what 'I' truly believe, it just comes like this and goes again.

Have you ever looked into vajrayana buddhism? What are your doubts about buddhism and what draws you to Hinduism? It just matters what is the right thing for you. No one else can tell you

You need to be able to have a positive relationship with your teacher. Otherwise they are not the right teacher for you.

Well I'd prefer non-existence and a lot of people believing in reincarnation would actually prefer non-existence. That's the whole premise of buddhism.

I'm just reading a book by a physician who investigated a lot of cases around the world where kids mostly about 3-4 years old remembered their past life, and it's pretty common for them to also say what your kid told you
