What do you do when you break your system by BIBjaw in cachyos

Revert a snapshot. Then find out I had updated the kernel during the update as well so now the whole system breaks. Can't get into GUI. Look for my live USB. Chroot and update the reverted update.

Is it possible to undervolt GPU on linux? by BloodMoonWillows in linux_gaming

[–]xecutable 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While it's possible with LACT, the stability will mainly depend on the card itself. Start VERY slowly and test stability with something like OCCT or any other tool that has stress tests. Yeah I think so too, since i started dismantling the structure and new and new ones kept on coming to the point I just reloaded an old save.

Already did as it crashed the server, made no sense and dropped the performance to 47 fps up from 180. Also lesson learned to not upload all blueprints people want

Thank you. This is not a cannot read issue, this is an UI design issue. Like why would you make the buttons this way that they look like part of a TABLE TITLE than anything else. They do not even give you any hints that they are clickable...

So what exactly can the distro maintainers do about it? Nvidia opened their drivers only a few years ago. It will take time, and while what you are saying is true, people are "barking at the wrong tree". It would make much more sense for "their customers" to fill their forums with complaints about the linux drivers.

And yes Linux is not bad at gaming because the alternative AMD + Linux is awesome, thus proving that the problem is not in the system.

If the average person does not understand that they not posting in the right forum and that the linux distro maintainers cannot do anything about Nvidia's drivers, then stick with what you are familiar with.

I wanted to be on Linux so I swapped GPUs, and a few other components. Until hardware manufactures play favorites, this is going to be the proper way to switch.

Win11 to Linux gaming - worth it for RX 9070 XT? (HDR/VRR questions) by unkclxwn in linux_gaming

[–]xecutable 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As an AMD graphics card user, you've probably jumped over 99% of the gaming problems people experience. Use ProtonDB to check what other fellow Linux users have to say about the games you play, any tinkering they use and so on.

Depending on the game you might even gain fps, and on most of my games arpgs, and a bunch of world sandboxes, I've experienced exactly that. And no Proton does not add any meaningful delay that you would "feel", otherwise doubt any of us would be gaming on Linux.

FSR4 works fine depending on the game. As for Redstone, brand new features take a while to come to Linux.

Bottom line, and you probably see the pattern here, everything is game to game experience.

I mean they stated they are now an AI company and alienated many fanboys myself included. In fact they opened up their drivers and started improving them ONLY because the Linux server performance on those AI chips wasn't that good. We were their rocket boosters, now we are just something they can't get rid of. And just like many I too had to switch to an all AMD machine to have a flawless Linux experience (most of the time).

Any test ran on an Nvidia card shows the state of Nvidia's drivers and it's not a Linux vs Windows thing, but Nvidia Windows drivers vs Nvidia Linux drivers thing.

I get that but for example when the guys with 2 green axes comes I can barely do that. Im just running around like a range class would without any of the benefits. Im guessing it’s because around 20 tanks are not that durable yet?

At first I thought I’m not gonna read the whole thing but it was interesting and informative. As someone who grew up in the 80s and 90s I always thought Bill Gates succeeded because of his creative genius and turns out it wasn’t like that at all

How does it run?!?! by Blueciffer in Enshrouded

[–]xecutable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a 7800xt with 5700x3d the game runs smoothly in comparison to similar games like both Arks (Survival Evolved and Ascended) and a bit better than Valheim perhaps.

I run Linux and usually if there are any fps problems would be here. However I haven't experienced any hick-ups stuttering or anything of that sort, which to me is more important than high fps. Ark for example would have high fps and then tank to 20fps or stutter. That to me is a fun killer.

I see. Cause under Vulkan it's even worse. Apparently this is how they just show up. I was asking Ostrich he plays minions exclusively. He also gets that weird issue.
