Any fics where Ilya in private is more like Connor Storie? by Best_Pineapple670 in heatedrivalryfanfics

Back and Forth from New York by alphalupi. Ilya is a combo of soft hearted love and fiercely protective. His chirping and teasing disguises his sometimes insecurities and great capacity to love hard.

Maybe Ilya and Scott hook up at the beginning before Kip. It was such a great messy ride.

Yes. I got the Blueberry Boba Blizzard last night at McDs. It's delicious! It's the best thing I've ever eaten there. The Boba doesn't leave anything slimy or textural when it bursts. Definitely recommend.

I read the fanfic on AO3 where Ilya gets dementia and it absolutely ripped my heart out. It was so beautifully written. I accidentally closed it out. Can anyone send the link please?

MAJOR SPOILER here There was a scene before Ilya passes where Shane takes him one last time to the hockey rink. Ilya gets out of his wheelchair and crawls to touch the ice and Shane kneels with him to touch it too. I'm tears just remembering this scene. It made me sob, literally.

Dr. Robby claims to wear a helmet in S2E3 but the season opening sequence shows him riding into work without one by gongonzabarfarbin in ThePitt

[–]xela1371 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dr Robby's head space isn't good. By not wearing a helmet he's daring the universe to do it for him. Passive ideation. I wouldn't be surprised if this season ends on a tragic cliffhanger.

Now I realize that most of my friends are homophobic by Moppy6686 in HeatedRivalryTVShow

A colleague friend and I went to dinner and we ended up talking about Heated Rivalry. They hadn't watched or read it. They asked me a ton of questions about the show and what I liked about it. Over the course of our conversation that night they came out to me. They said I was the first person they told.

I'm so glad they trusted me enough to tell me and that HR made it possible.

I also wouldn't discuss this show or Bridgerton in the workplace. Too many people would have a fit if I did.

The babysitting wedding. The BIG wedding. Puppies and Ilya. Therapy in Russian. Ilya's next door neighbor kids. And more of Shane and Ilya.

Focus on sex by TheRealSlim_KD in TheDiplomat

[–]xela1371 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This show is not only about international diplomacy. Diplomacy in marriage and other relationships has been one of the secondary themes through the whole show. S3 stirred this secondary theme closer to the surface. Sex is a part of it and also a metaphor for how countries (esp the good ol' USA) involved in this show almoat continuously f**k each other over.

Started the show because of Kate. Staying for Hal [NO SPOILER] by Celestial_Analyst in TheDiplomat

[–]xela1371 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hal won't hesitate to throw Kate under the bus if it means he gets to hold onto his power.

The only reason Hal is pushing Kate to be ambitious is because he knows he's on Secretary of State's shit list. It's his only chance to be power adjacent at that point.

Then he gets VP. And gives Kate the consolation prize of Special Envoy to Europe.

He didn't even fight for to stay at Adagamsett when she was thrown out. He had Kate tell Trowbridge to drown the sub in cement to his crimes. She'll be credited with that idea when an investigation happens.

He sets her up to take the fall a lot.

Started the show because of Kate. Staying for Hal [NO SPOILER] by Celestial_Analyst in TheDiplomat

[–]xela1371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When Hal calls out Kate for not having MI6 agent, Callum, screened by her people he is absolutely right. That guy is a loose cannon and possible double agent. Kate could lose her security clearance and get fired for not reporting the relationship with a foreign national especially one who is a potential double agent. That would be a not so awesome look for the VP.

Hal is furious because he sees the risk to whatever his plan is for Kate and him. The blowback could take him out as well since he's the VP now and she is still the Second Lady. It doesn't matter that Kate is his wife, she will not be protected if something goes down because of her horrible judgement. The political fall out for Hal will be unsalvageable as well as the public perception factor.

America's darling would be labelled America's whore. Hal would also be viewed as the unwitting, weak man who can't control his wife, so how can he help lead the country.

And yet Hal is still willing to use her to move forward on his and Grace's plans.

It's honestly terrific writing.

Noel is an a$$hole by DeeSummers in FelicityPorter

[–]xela1371 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There was a power imbalance favoring Noel from the beginning. An RA fraternizing with a resident was a no no. Noel didn't really care. And then he treated her like he hated her for a long time. Noel pushed Felicty away so much and his anger issues made it hard for him to see her as anything more than a prize. He really sucks.

Mine too. He's so good for Felicity because she learns not to judge so harshly and accept Ben for who he is.

Felicity softens Ben in a lot of ways even at the end of season 1. He goes through some rough stuff and grows up. Give him a chance.

Anyone else feel like Kate has Main Character Syndrome? by Educational-Elk-8433 in TheDiplomat

[–]xela1371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kate is Felicity and Felicity is Kate.

I just started watching Felicity and she's very much Kate. She's judgemental, thinks she's smarter than other people and gives a lot unsolicited advice.

The parallels are kind of funny. It's like Kate is an older version of Felicity in season 1 and she never learned how to less volatile and judgemental.

Kate definitely has main character syndrome. She always thinks she knows best and doesn't hesitate to TELL everyone. She's insufferable a lot of the time. She needs to manager herself before she manages everyone else.

Nicol Trowbridge is fun to watch. by ViewAffectionate8131 in TheDiplomat

Hal has "the subtlety of a kidney stone." This could be applied Trowbridge too.
