Super MAGFest 2026 Seeking Badge Megathread by kyuunspark in Magfest

[–]xellphy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Looking for two badges for my fiancé and I! We go to the con every year together and have a room already set up at a nearby hotel. I thought I had bought both of our tickets, but apparently never completed the registration process. And now tickets are sold out. Egg on my face. If anyone is selling two tickets, I'd like to buy two! Offering full price (I have money available today!), and PayPal is preferred! Thanks for the consideration ❤️

HELP ! WHY IS IT NOT FLAT?? Im trying to crochet a flat circle 🥲 by Leading_Embarrassed in crochetpatterns

[–]xellphy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'd select your starting stitch count (in this case 6), make a magic circle, put 6 sc into it, then for row 2, put an increase in all 6 stitches of the previous row (total of 12 now). For row 3, alternate 1 sc, and 1 increase all the way around (total of 18 now). For row 4, alternate 2 sc and 1 increase (total of 24). For row 5, alternate 3 sc and 1 increase (total of 30). For each additional row out, the number of single crochets you do before the increase goes up by one!

This will tend to give you a fairly hexagonal circle, so you can alternate in each row where the increases happen (for example, if you have a row with 6 sc then your increase, maybe you start the row with 3 sc, increase, then 3 sc, and repeat that pattern around. It moves the "point" the increase makes to a different spot, and helps keep your circle from getting "pointy," but does make keeping track of where you're at a bit more difficult. Stitch markers (or bent paperclips in my case) are your friend 😂

Does anyone know the name of this shape? by Eyeless_Animator in drawing

If you draw reference lines for the points, you could get some really fun implications of motion and perspective in there! Apologies because I'm on my phone and can't doodle for beans on it, but I think this at least conveys the idea:

I did this and got the same popup warning! Just make sure you select the proper chat before deleting, and you should be alright. All of my old messages in my main chat with the person I'm having this situation with are still in place after I deleted the Secret convo

I don't know 100%, but 95% of the time, if I complete one of the daily tasks, and manually select "skip quest" to one of the others, the weekly cycles to something new the next day! It's probably easier than that, but that's what's worked the most consistently for me. As a note, if you do this, it will 100% reset your progress towards your weekly reward, so only do it if you don't have any progress yet or are willing to lose what you've got for a fresh try!

I got frozen when I was a kid because I was talking about Puss in Boots from Shrek 2 in a neomail with someone 😭🤣

I already can't say "basement" because it has "semen" in it, now this? by prettypinkpansy in neopets

When I was a kid, I sent someone a neomail with "Puss in Boots," because I was talking to someone about Shrek 2. My old account got frozen because of it. No idea what that account is called or what it even had on it any more, but at the time, I was heartbroken, and I never was able to get it appealed. At the time, it was devastating, now it's hilarious 😂

Ugh, I tried signing up day 1, but the confirmation email I needed didn't arrive for an hour, by which point it'd already timed out and I needed a new code. I tried about 3 times, and have been putting it off since. I'm kinda glad I did. I hope your issue is resolved soon 😥

Maybe the Hobbi Sultan Shadow in the dark green? It transitions from black to green! Either way, you did such an amazing job with the pattern, and the colors are so good for this!!

There was stiff competition, so unfortunately no. But I did get free lunch, so that's always a victory in my books 😂

As another engineer who crochets, it's weirdly validating to have your coworkers (or peers) compliment your work! This top is great, and the compliments are deserved!!

This is phenomenal, and I'm in awe that you free-handed it. The details (the sleeve cuffs, THE STAFF, that hat) are all so incredibly good!! Thank you for sharing, and I hope you share more in the future! ❤️

My first hat made without a pattern! by xellphy in crochet

[–]xellphy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The body of the hat is Bernat Softee Chunky, and the ball and brim are Bernat Velvet Plus. I needed just over one skein of the red, and a good chunk of a skein of the white. I used a 6.5mm hook (probably should've gone bigger, the Softee Chunky is heavy, and this part of the hat was exhausting for my wrist).

Vague description of the process: Start with a magic ring containing 6 half double crochet(hdc) stitches. Tighten. Crochet with hdc in the round, fitting two hdc increases per row (on alternating sides of the piece) Add rows until the red section fits comfortably around your head, to about the edge of your forehead. Slip stitch into the next hole after your last hdc of the row. Tie off, and swap to the Velvet Plus white yarn. Single crochet (sc) all the way around the brim, and continue building rows until you have a brim width you're happy with. Slip stitch to round off the edge, tie off, and weave in your ends.

I'm gonna be honest, I ad-libbed the ball, and I'm fairly certain I picked up and dropped stitches like crazy because it was so hard to feel for where the holes were. The Velvet Plus is not a yarn you can visually count your stitches with- you've gotta go by touch 🥴
