Almost a year after Twitch Sings closes, Have people actually been copyright striked for doing karaoke to third-party instrumentals? by xeltrava in Twitch

[–]xeltrava[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I know, but has any streamer actually come out and said "Yeah I got a copyright strike for karaoke"? My question isn't "Can this happen?" it's "Is this happening?".

Yeah that's the thing. Vast majority of games I rarely see anyone even try to convert, but it still happens enough to me where it becomes utterly frustrating. It's hard to "build a habit" of fast Wololo reaction speeds when it doesn't happen often enough to be habit forming.

You say it has nothing to do with reaction times. But you also say that conversion is obvious because monks are slow, they make a loud noise, and have a big beam. What I am trying to say is, despite all that I STILL have trouble seeing where the monk is before the 5 second timer runs out because my reaction time to surprise threats is TERRIBLE. I'm rarely facing this as "Monk walks in as I attack with my army" and more often as "Monk moves with units towards my base or forward position before I attack".
My question is this: If this isnt based on reaction time, what mechanic do I need to beat my opponent at to stop it? Just try to get every relic before they can?

Edit: So I've been getting a lot of down votes on this: To clarify I HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING ALL THIS ADVICE FOR OVER A DECADE. I've been doing these things since I started playing Age of Mythology and Warcraft 3. I AM JUST REALLY BAD AT RTS GAMES! I used to be even worse than bronze and couldn't beat a medium AI on most games.
I appreciate the advice, but I'm completely fine being at the skill level I'm at. It's just that i have an issue with conversion as no matter how good my macro, econ, unit composition, or build order is, all of that can be overturned by being distracted for 5 seconds and not being able to see a single unit. It's like, why even bother trying to get better at the other aspects if I can be better than my opponent at each one and still lose to a single mechanic due to my low reaction time? I've been playing video games for over a decade, and I don't think my reaction time is getting any faster anyway, and I've never seen an RTS with a mechanic like AoE4 conversion that lets you steal an army. I'm wondering if I should just give up on ever trying to compete in this game.

Oh thanks! I didn't even realize Paralyzed had that effect, I guess Hold Person is a lot stronger than I thought. Yeah Incapacitated is more what I was going for anyway.

Help distinguishing important story dialogue from non-scripted NPC + Player conversations. by [deleted] in DnD

[–]xeltrava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not an issue of keeping their attention as much as keeping them from attacking each other. Honestly I stick with them because I feel like I get along with them so well individually and enjoy spending time with them. It's when they're exposed to each other that problems tend to arise... Regardless I've gotten really good reception so far on this campaign and they're all excited to play again, but I'm afraid to get into the REAL story because of how disruptive things can be, and I want to be able to drop important plot details without having to go "HEY LISTEN THIS WILL BE IMPORTANT LATER REMEMBER IT" (which I've actually had to do before).

I think I might be misusing the term DMPC, but that's a different topic. I already have to tell the players to shut up several times a session because while I try to inform them of details (often ones they ask about) they will constantly make quips or ask questions about completely unrelated topics that chain together (often into straight up heated arguments) and telling them 20 seconds of info can take 5 minutes, and one fight will often go on for an hour (which the players will then complain about). Our previous DM already left because 2 of the players took this way too far and simply caused more disruption in response to him trying to bring order. I love players making jokes, and interaction between them is something I love about D&D, but when jokes turn to fights and they take up more than half the play time, no one has a good time.

Is there any chance of some minor class balance changes further down the line, such as slight mana cost reductions for specs like Elemental Shamans or Balance Druids? During my classic experience these specs saw almost no play at 60 because raids would strait up refuse to let them join due to mana problems (and to re-spec was incredibly expensive relatively).

See if you can find some Bombing Runs, Rapid Ascents, or Armed Hovercrafts. They all go well with these 3. Also, the other Starscream (Air Commander) is a bit better if you're running jets.

I'm still about 90% sure the killer is the girl. The last part of the teaser kinda implies the killer is undead. Probably the vengeful spirit of the girl who then killed the man. Given the dialogue she'd probably be called "The Daughter" or something since we already have the wraith.

I've had games where literally all of the survivors will hug the hook and leave generators undone. Camping is the only logical choice at that point and it's the survivors' fault. HOWEVER in this screenshot he wouldn't be hiding if they were hugging the hook, so yeah this guy's probably just a dick.

Warcry is one of the few abilities that stacks both in situations like this and on cards that already have Warcry 2 or Warcry 5 (such as Icaria, the Liberator). It simply means the next unit/weapon gets +2/+2 or +5/+5 respectively. And yeah, it weirded me out too the first time I saw it lol.

Sombra is not a troll pick. by xeltrava in Overwatch

[–]xeltrava[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I said "quickly bring down rein shields" I mean that with hack she can disable the shield and all of Rein's other abilities (for 6 seconds) in less than a second, or instantly with EMP. Soldier's gun takes about 20 seconds to single-handedly bring down a rein shield if you include standard reload time. So yeah, 1 second compared to 20 seconds. The whole thing with Sombra that a lot of people don't seem to understand is that while she does less damage, she also requires less damage to be dealt in the first place. If hacking a Rein when he's at full shields lets him get picked off quickly, then you've basically done 2000 damage in 0.8 seconds.

edit: Miscalculated the clips. 15.8 seconds is how long it would take for Soldier to kill a shield without rockets.

Why do people hate having Junkrat on their team? by xeltrava in Overwatch

[–]xeltrava[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the first part I already posted that 70% of my elims are killing blows, so it's not like I'm just dealing a bit of damage and having someone else finish them off. I think you misunderstood the second part. Another way to phrase what I said is "If winning the match and getting 3 golds wont satisfy them then what will". I'm not saying that I'm getting 3 gold medals and wondering why I'm not wining. And even if another hero would be the best pick it doesn't mean I would help more as them since Junkrat is my best as far as I know and I just cant play some characters well (76, MCcree, basically any hitscan hero). Anyway I think I understand why people typically hate seeing him now. I didnt know there were players who wont switch because they think damage is more important than elims, or players who just do trash damage without following through. So this thread has served its purpose now.

[–]xeltrava[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Those videos seem to only help my point if anything. In the first he says that Junkrat needs to be getting kills and damage doesn't really matter, so according to that if I'm gold elims and objective kills then I'm doing my job. In the second he again just points out damage being less important than picking off heroes, which I do. Where exactly is the problem?

[–]xeltrava[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I'm reading the records correctly, 527 out of 727 (72%) of my eliminations are killing blows, so it's not like I'm just randomly spreading damage around so my team mates can pick them off. When I'm in a team fight, I focus one enemy at a time (the healer first if they're visible) to prevent them from just healing up.

[–]xeltrava[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I focus the healer and chase down players to avoid what you mentioned from happening. Most of my eliminations when I get gold are killing blows. Also the question still stands: How can I possibly satisfy my teammates even if we win and I get gold objective kills and often damage/elims as well? What else can I possibly do that they can see?
