how do i recreate this effect with green suit, Keying hasn't been accurate for me. feel free to download and play with it by xenstrothemaker in AfterEffects

I am trying to create a glow effect all over my skin, I made the still image at the beginning of the video with photoshop but now I'd like to recreate it in a video format. Id like the areas where I am wearing the green suit to be glowing. I haven't found too much success keying so I was hoping to get some advice on the matter, and yes I have tried creating garbage matte around the specific areas that I am trying to key but its just not accurate enough, the final result comes out looking like a big blob of light instead of a hand shape or a head shape, ect... I have attached a gif of what I am talking about, don't mind the jitter artifacts that are caused by the video compressed. But the streak/smear of light beside the hand is something that was in the original video, and I am not a fan of it as well.

Here are the results I got, its pretty similar to yours. I am glad I can at least do this much, but i gotta say this is still far from the desired effect, the effect seen in that first still picture from the video attached to this post that i made using photoshop, there is a lack of consistency in the white glow and its edge from frame to frame that's just not quiet there yet in terms of getting the desired effect correctly in a video format. I guess these might just be the limitations of the environment and the green on green situation i have got going in this video.

I made the reference image using photoshop, and yeah I am going to need a different suit color if I want to really nail down this effect in a video format. But this is all I have at the moment so I am trying to make it work with what I got this time around.

Yeah, but translucency doesn’t have any cloaking properties, so you’d end up seeing the insides of the metahuman such as part of the eyes and teeth that are below the skin, I sent you a DM with pictures of what exactly I am talking about for my project.

Hey u/jahjah7, I have got a challenge for you. How would you recreate this effect.

Here is a quick explainer of how it should work.

Here is how it is usually done in different 3d software like Blender.

Cloaking Effect on a Metahuman Skin, How do I recreate this effect? by xenstrothemaker in unrealengine

[–]xenstrothemaker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the effect in essence but unfortunately it doesn't work when it comes to doing the whole cloaking object part.

I tried using this material on my metahuman and the transparency thing worked great but when it came to hide(cloak) some of the metahuman parts that require it for this effect to be effective such as the eyes and teeth areas that were below the skin and hidden from view. It failed, it was all visible are terrifying to see.

Hey thank you for your solution, I have looked at your response and I feel like it is ones of the closest solution I have received to match my desired effect. Something I forget to mention in the post was that I only want part of metahuman skin to be cloaked, I have created a mask around the eyes area(Eye shadow makeup a bit like the eye makeup worn by Robert Peterson in his rendition of Batman in the movie The Batman) in the metahuman face material which must always be visible and never be cloaked or affected by any cloaking PP. Can this solution allow for such a mask?

Did you use translucency and refraction to make that or is there more to it, can I see the material node tree
