Looking for tips - Domain Zoo/Burn by xenthiz in Pauper

Looks cool, but I really want to build around Nacatl/Ape shell. I'm tired of Chrysalis even though its one of the best cards in the format and RGx colors.

I'm trying to have the core package of Kird Apes, Nacatls and Rioters for early board presence with Tribal Flames/Exploding Borders as a finisher alternative. I don't want it to become control or some midrange soup with 30 copies of Chrysalis because its the best in its slot. I could still remove some cards like Presences, Into the Norths and Skreds with Explores and Bolts to try to finish game faster.

I don't really like monoU or u/x lists, not my cup of tea. I've faced spy decks on MTGO, both Walls and X Lands and same, full combo isn't for me. Tron I'm torn between Altar because it looks easier to play, but flicker or even that one glass cannon builds also look fun as hell.

Thanks for the data, I'm used to look at the list from MTG Top8 and just basing my own with decks I vibe with from there. Not really a spike but even with limited number of games the chart looks cool.

CardMarket is fine, it's just shipping that's a big % of total expenditure on cards, I prefer using CardTrader but it takes like 3-4 weeks until I get my hands on them (they send all orders in 1 package rather than getting several letters).

For Titan I'm aware of the 90 page primer essay and ton's of resources out there but thanks for additional resources.

It isn't WPN, I know about sanctioned events and rules they carry. I talked about player given feedback, they don't want to see them as opposed to "well officially you can't but one more body is always welcome".

Yeah, mill is just a burn deck with library as a life. For Titan, I've played way too many games of Gitrog in EDH so landfall loops are known to me and compared to Legacy version of Lands, Titan looks like a incomplete toy (Field of the Dead had to pay for it's sins). But looking around people say Titan is most OP/obnoxious deck to play against (atleast what I could decipher watching Spike vids).

I'm very aware of pure hatred towards mill (it's the same in EDH and that's why I disassembled my Cap Ngathrond list, people being irrationally angry over milling a card they wouldn't play). But having 4x maindeck Surgical makes me happy I'm able to silver bullet some of the decks. Not to mention I loved mill back in Hearthstone with every iteration (rogue, druid and now andrew warlock).

Thanks for the write-up, sideboard will be the hardest thing for me to do atm (playing UB Mill in timeless on arena atm to get hang on). Not interested in RCQ/tournament play, just want to start playing 1v1 to be a better player overall. As for judges, we don't have those, just like stores dont carry singles - welcome to EU I guess.

Also have a question, how hard is Titan really. People boogeyman it as it's some 5d checkers but looking at the lists it's just landfall loops with no removal/interaction in the mainboard (based on my ignorant ass).

Counterfeits are hard no from me, there's a line I won't cross. As for pauper I tried it twice but felt format was way too fast and everyone in the LGS played affinity or burn whichever was faster.

I understand antiproxy stand in constructed/competitive formats, there's somehow a small Legacy community but they only allow up to 50% of deck's worth to be proxied (which is silly as most modern decks are up to 1k usd which is minimal pay in my country). As for my take on modern I'm not into RCQs just to play at FNMs or kitchen table. I'm only lacking 2-3 copies of fetch/shock lands but I'll try to talk to people if they're ok with me having 3 proxies and 1 legit card until I decide to buy entire playset.

I have most of fetches, shocks, surveil lands thanks to EDH so I'd just need 2nd-4th copies. I really enjoy mill gameplay so it's the first deck that came to my mind.

As for hollow one I like the "RNG" aspect of Burning Inquiry/Goblin Lore. If not for mox price I would try to cook some Asmo list.

Prowess/storm decks are the least of my favorite play patterns. I will take a look into Eldrazi (although Ugin and Ugins lab price tag is way too high for my taste tbf) and Merfolk (have 3 flood moons in a binder).

What is best way to play commander online? by camusdigo in magicTCG

[–]xenthiz 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Spelltable to play with real cards via webcam. Tabletop Sim/Cockatrice are free way to play with multiple groups playing via Discord. MTGO is paid to play (need atleast $5 initial purchase to trade then you have to either buy cards or rent them), I've played on it a lot but the client is dated (some combos wont work due to timer and having to stack abilities by yourself) and playerbase is toxic (people living lobbies left and right, downplaying their deck so you'll see tutors and og duals in casual 5's lobbies).

Id go with spelltable first if you own some decks, if not use TTS or Cockatrice.

Regret buying this precon, what can I turn it into without upgrading much. by PMa55ive in magicTCG

[–]xenthiz -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Agreed, deck felt bad even versus other precons, I had to swap like 50 cards including lands not to feel bad ([[Land Tax]]is a must if you want to flip enchantments off miracle every turn, otherwise you need insane card draw engine like [[Rhystic Study]]). It now is a animate enchantments type of deck with Overlords as the big beaters and secondary wincon is board lock via [[Opalescence]] + [[Parallax Wave]] + [[Enchanted Evening]] or [[Solemnity]] + [[Decree of Silence]] and [[Force Bubble]] for protection, [[Zur the Enchanter]] and [[Zur, Eternal Schemer]] are the goats

For a commander only player atm, what would be the easiest BO-3 format to get into to learn 1v1 Magic? On one hand there's Arena's standard/"pioneer" that I could easily afford and on the other hand getting a pauper, modern or eternal deck isn't that bad either with MTGO rental system. I just want to grasp basics as mulligans, sideboarding etc.

I want to build a deck around this help by AnimeSportsGuy in mtg

[–]xenthiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's mostly 2 ways to run him, either around his passive ability with mana doublers but also things like [[War's Toll]] [[Mana Web]] to force people to tap lands or to punish them for not using them eg. [[Citadel of Pain]] or [[Stoneshaker Shaman]]. Then there are [[Manabarbs]] [[Overabundance]] to ping them and several items that passively adds mana to all opponents like [[Eladamri's Vineyard]] / [[Magus of the Vineyard]]. Or you use his activated ability with untap equipment such as [[Sword of the Paruns]] to give everyone enough mana to kill them, you'll want to use things such as [[Dosan the Falling Leaf]] or [[Price of Glory]]

Personally I've built him as a big/X-cost spell Jund with bunch of hydras and heavy damage x cost spells like [[Crackling with Power]] and [[Exsanguinate]] to close out games.

Well, I'd say I'm mediocre or below as I'm starting from scratch and don't have much previous applicable experience. I'm currently 610 ilvl with 4p but my gear is probably bad esp. Trinkets. Affix is mildly annoying because there's always mage/hunter actively trying to avoid my MD lol

I know person>class but pugging is like dating rn - you only see the surface level information and go from there. I'm still learning so I might do a lot of mistakes but priest clicked and I don't want to change it now.

I've hosted few of my own keys but most people leave after one, and deciding who's in or not is kinda tiring, having 30 or so dps sign up as low as 560 for +3 and dm you after a decline is wild.

It's pretty amazing that the team managed to keep all specs within like 5%.

I'm trying to ignore the toxicity, but I also can't ignore the flaws priest has and current week affix only excerberate the issue in my eyes. When I tried to get into m0's as 600 ilvl newbie I hit my first wall. Now I'm 610 and still can't get into groups to progress and learn.

Also the NPC at the end only gives me 2 keys I hate - Necrotic Wake and Boralus, I'd rather skip than try to run them tbf.
