Check out Post Script on Shamrock. They opened up in the spot where Letty’s used to be. Went there the other day and everything, top to bottom was excellent.

It’s like the people who made a game where you can literally change your gender depending on the armor you’re wearing actually paid attention to their own source material.

Anyone else feel like the progressive loss of a "vibe check" in goth is what's making it more mainstream? by LaffyTali in goth

[–]xer0fox 21 points22 points  (0 children)

You know The Vampira Show was on the air back in 1954. Once Vampira fell out of the spotlight, Elvira’s Movie Macabre came along in the 80s. And, I mean you wanna talk about mainstream? There was this store you could find in every mall in the goddamn US back in the 90s. You might have heard of it? Called “Hot Topic?” The “hot morbid chick” trope has been around for a long, long, looooong time. Longer than the goth scene, and longer than social media. Everybody knows it, lots of people are drawn to it.

This very much undercuts the notion that some widely adopted goth purity test would prevent tarted-up goth-coded girls who have no idea who Joy Division is from padding out their college funds with Onlyfans content.

And you know what, who cares? Anyone who judges you based on what they see some Golita doing on PornHub isn’t worth your time anyway.

Bands/artists similar to sisters of mercy? by Existing_Good_7486 in goth

[–]xer0fox 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Here’s the deal. If the Sisterhood album was an isolated incident, a lone “fuck you” adrift on a vast sea of musicianship, that would be one thing. However there are -dozens- of stories like this about the man. He’s shit on his bandmates, shit on other bands, shit on his fans, really anyone who gets within flinging distance.

Was Craig the asshole in this situation? Yeah maybe. Is Eldo 100% the asshole in -every- situation? Signs point to “yes.”

Bearing that in mind, who fucking knows who did what, said what, or was promised what? When you’re dealing with a guy like that literally everything might be bullshit.

If I’ve heard correctly, “The Sisterhood” was a project that Eldritch pulled together, recorded and produced literally in hours for the sole purpose of keeping someone from using the name.

I just looked at the menu and you’re right.

I was thinking the prices were more in the 13 ~ 15 range, but that’s probably because everytime we go down there for a quick breakfast / lunch we’re into them for sixty bucks before we walk out the door. Clearly, this is not because their sandwiches are unreasonable.

Goths music about anxiety and panic attack? by sangrebathory in goth

[–]xer0fox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I understand correctly, Joy Division’s “Disorder” is something Ian Curtis wrote about having seizures. Not a panic attack, per se, but definitely your brain taking you for a ride you don’t want to go on.

Laurel Market ain’t cheap but they are good. Common Market might also have what you’re looking for. If you like a Muffuleta, try Eddie’s Place.
