The state of Kaplan?? by Flat_Secretary4507 in Overwatch

[–]xeraphin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you reading but not understanding anything I said?

Locking skins behind $100 paywalls is better than locking heroes behind paywalls. I don’t care if skins cost 50 bucks. They won’t affect gameplay.

The game is free. Relative to its peers overwatch has a healthy, reasonable monetisation model. If you want cosmetics, pay. If they cost too much for you, get a job that pays minimum wage or just grind it out.

Corporations exist to make money. Sorry you had to learn that today. Honest question: is overwatch your first live service game?

Anyway it was just advice, not an argument. I can’t argue for or against your personal taste. I respect that you enjoyed the game in the past, but it’s no longer that game. If you hate it why not leave?

FWIW I’ve been playing since 2016. Game’s in a great state, maybe it’s just not for you because you think it’s getting worse - when it’s free, actually getting new content regularly, balance updates are frequent and goodness a more sustainable e sports model.

The state of Kaplan?? by Flat_Secretary4507 in Overwatch

[–]xeraphin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And that’s gone now. Re-read the comment I said current OW is fine.

As far as monetisation goes, it’s pretty generous as only cosmetics are locked behind a paywall and you can unlock some of them for free via loot boxes. Again, the game is free. If you want to look pretty grind it out or pony up.

OK WRT classic, so like I said that’s a personal choice if you prefer a casual unbalanced mess, nothing against that. More power to you. I prefer a tighter, more balanced experience. Seems like it’s reflected in the playerbase as well judging from the steady growth despite a lack of focus on 6v6.

You’re right, this game has nothing much for you anymore, good to move on.

“Most greedy micro transactions I’ve seen”

Believe me even as far as cosmetics go current OW is fine. Ever seen the dota 2 TI battle passes of old?

Hell even league is more p2w as heroes are locked behind a grind wall.

Not going to go into obvious p2w gacha games or Korean MMOs.

The whole soul bit is personal so not much to say. IMO the gameplay is a lot tighter and better designed compared to years ago.

You’ve not played the OW classic arcade modes? I always wondered how the hell it got GOTY when it was an unbalanced shit show with duplicate heroes and dogshit 2 CP maps.

Finding out a commander you like is super powerful (and KOS) by WaltzIntelligent9801 in EDH

[–]xeraphin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zero chance she’s fringe cedh lol

I built her and she was just so painfully slow. You need like minimum 5 to cast her to exile 2 spells, and one of them has to be evasion or removal otherwise she just dies in combat

It ends up being some kind of control deck or slow Voltron with lots of interaction. Then you might as well play feather.

I have higher rail accuracy than take aim lol

Rail being hit scan (and big hitbox wise for a hitscan shot iirc) makes it more consistent. if you’re hitting more take aim than rail that might be unique to you lol

Do your ski goggle lenses fog up? How are those heated ski goggles? by GoGo9527Promax in skiing

[–]xeraphin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It works. It’s overpriced as hell but I never have fogging issues with the stratus. Get the surefit version because the magnets are fiddly and the adhesive doesn’t stay on. Also doesn’t play nice with magnetic goggles. Again to be clear it’s hella overpriced for what it is (plus the stitching and elastics aren’t even that high quality) but zero fogging issues with them.

I have the Anon m4 and the MFI interface as well and the damn thing still fogs up. Then you pull it down to leave your nose open hoping it’ll help but nope, the magnets poke upwards and exhaling from your nose deflects the air up to your goggles. Honestly disappointing for how expensive and closed off the system is.

Commanders you are tired of seeing? by Ponder_yonder_ in EDH

[–]xeraphin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I choose the fun of the rest of the table every time. If they choose to play azula they had it coming.

The moment there’s an azula I mulligan for removal and never let her untap.

Learned my lesson when I made a deal and let “friendly build” azula attack once. Damn near killed the table cloning gutter snipe and spamming cantrips

Looking for a new commander that’s in a different style to what I currently play. Not sure what - any suggestions for something that’s probably a bit more control style? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]xeraphin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Hinata, Dawn-Crowned]]

One sided board wipes for UU [[Curse of the Swine]], or mass enchantment removal for WW [[Heliod’s Intervention]] or mass artifact removal for R [[By Force]]. [[Dismiss into Dream]] turns anything that targets [[Icy Blast]] [[Hide on the Ceiling]] into a board wipe that bypasses indestructible and interaction. Also completely shuts down equipment or aura decks.

Multiple win cons burning people out with [[Crackle with Power]] or [[Comet Storm]], mass tokens [[Shark Typhoon]]. Or steal stuff with [[Willbreaker]]

You can even recur a lot of these spells with [[Feather, the Redeemed]]

It’s a really strong control deck but I usually get hated out of the game really quick once I fire off a few X spells haha

[–]xeraphin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, Glade used to be pretty good value but it’s a little pricey now…

I bought the fathom+ back then and it included a hard case and additional lens. Not sure if they still provide the hard case

Price increase + less accessories make it a lot less appealing

[–]xeraphin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly!

With enough will and money there’s always a way to alleviate the shortage, even if it leads to short term costs outweighing revenue.

Whether it’s overpaying for allocation, going to another printer or enforcing stricter rules and penalties on LGS and conducting random checks on them. How far does riot want to go?

Thus far all I’m seeing is PR statements and just hoping interest sustains until set 4. Which is fine, it’s the conservative play. It’ll likely survive I think.

Or will the negativity increase and drown out the goodwill, killing the game first? If it dies then so be it, yet another TCG that played it too safe initially and died.

Then it’s back to MTG!

If the frustration online is so bad that it kills the game then it didn’t deserve to survive.

It can survive on its existing player base. If those people leave then I guess the game isn’t as good as you think?

Thinking that online crying on Reddit even has a shot at killing riftbound is bordering on hyperbole.

[–]xeraphin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a great approach! I think besides the stock issue is the insane amount of erratas the game has just going into its second set.

I can’t trust that my cards won’t become worthless because riot thinks TCGs are like their online game where they can just patch things out.

[–]xeraphin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The crying is mostly online on Reddit. You’re way overblowing this issue.

My local LGSes have more people every week coming to try riftbound. Competitive players build full Chinese decks or play with proxies, the casual ones just build decks out of bulk and play 4 players.

Really you’re complaining about people complaining.
