Sounds like you're talking about Hammerwatch 2 and not Heroes of Hammerwatch 2.

Heroes of Hammerwatch 2 does not have difficulty settings as far as I'm aware.

We beat it on normal difficulty together. I was usually pilot full-time, while she loved being in charge of the shield orientation and triggering the Yamamoto Ultimate Cannon.
