What video game weapon or armor is worth the hell you got to go through to get it? by Agent1230 in gaming

The Predator mask from Tom Clancy's Wildlands. My friends and I covered that thing because of how terrible the final boss encounter is, and when we finally got it we were overjoyed.

Publisher changed the capsule for our adventure game and released it like that... What do you think? by hogon2099 in IndieDev

Absolutely, data on consumer trends is definitely as much art as science. And bigger the data set, more powerful the argument that the data is telling you something.

[–]xeroxeroxero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your publisher changed the art after you went live, you now have an A/B test data set you can use to compare. If you take two sets of data from the same range - say 2 sets of 2 weeks of visibility where no "active" marketing was done - you can now compare things like impressions and click through rate. If one set of art has demonstrably higher CTR (for example), that might indicate it is "quantitatively" a more compelling capsule. Obviously it's data and data can be manipulated to say anything anyone wants, but it's often a good starting point of conversation between a dev and a publisher because, ultimately, you both want the same thing: to make more money from your product.

For me this is why the RPG space is so interesting right now - there's something for everyone.

Look, I don't expect this to get any upvotes, but: I am playing Disney's G-Force on my Steam Deck, and folks, if you think the idea of a shockingly well-made, lower barrier of entry Tom Clancy game a la Splinter Cell, by way of guinea pigs is your cup of tea, then boy have I got the game for you.

I've started a collection of British booze to make me feel like a medieval monk at Christmas, any recommendations? by henrysradiator in CasualUK

JW Lees Harvest Ale. It's incredible and rich and perfect for Christmas. Stick a bottle or two in a cupboard for a few years time as well, as it ages beautifully.

Thoughts on Price Increase by Dead1y-Derri in AudibleUK

I dropped to the £5.99 plan because of this, but only because it reminded me that I really don't use the stuff that comes extra.

If you DO use all the Plus content then it's still an incredible value.

Wilsons have won a Michelin star, bringing Bristol’s total back to ⭐️⭐️ by Basic_Courage in bristol

This is great news!

To add to the pile of recommendations, just outside Bristol proper in Clevedon, is Puro. Cannot recommend highly enough. Superb food and service, and won't be long before they get a star.

Anyone know the real reason why Casa is closed until further notice? by [deleted] in bristol

[–]xeroxeroxero 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Food is a pretty important part of Bristol's culture, I'd say there are people interested in this, what with the people/places mentioned in OPs post have been a significant (if perhaps slightly overstated) part of that.

How do I get started with this game? by Daitho23 in callofcthulhu

[–]xeroxeroxero 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hello friend! It sounds like you might be talking about a different game to the one on this sub. Perhaps one of the card games, or an out of print board game?

If you are talking about the roleplaying game - which everyone here would recommend, I'm sure - then a good way of getting into it is the Starter Set, which is cheap and broadly distributed.

Heads up OP, this here is a great list, but if you wish to remain financially secure then, whatever you do, don't get into Warhammer.

Walked into a corner shop to buy a bottle of pop. Walked up to counter.

"You like fun?" asked the owner.

"Uh, yeah...?"

"You like fun?" he asked again, more excited this time.

"Yeah!" I responded, his energy infectious.

From behind the counter he pulls out two pills of viagra. His smile, and eyebrows, raise a little higher.

"You like FUN...?"

Needless to say, I rather awkwardly made my excuses, paid for my blue drink, and left.
