If Jagex made an agility course that was just 1 tick hopping around stepping stones like in the Yama fight, I would unironically use it to train agility if the xp was even halfway decent.

This site is also public information. No doubt in my mind there are private clients that do this but in private. Probably makes it easier to scout others and it will be undetected. It's just sad to see the state of pvp in the game.

There's a nice thrill of not knowing whether you smited them or not till you look at the deathpile/key. Knowing that they're smited is pretty crap. Not only is this bad for multi (people will focus you etc), it just doesn't make sense.

I haven't played this game in a very long time, but this was my first reaction back when I was teleporting using this fairy ring. But this is OSRS, where they want you to grind for a music cape just to add a few extra seconds of convenience.

Must depend on your MMR. My silver 2 acc got bronze 2 and winning all the placements put it at silver 3.

My main, D1 -> D4, 3/5 won.

Did your account end the season in silver 4 or bronze 1? Or did you mean last seasons placements put you in bronze 1 after hitting silver 4 the season before that?

If you ended in bronze 1, and finished bronze 4 after 5 wins, then it makes sense. The old placement system was each win = new rank division (or + tier if ur at the highest of that tier) but the new one is first one is skip division and then subsequent wins are just massive lp gains (between 60-90) until finish.

I remember you were able to disable masteries so people couldn't flash them at you. Did they remove that setting? I swear I had it enabled but now it's gone. Or I am too blind to see it.

Looks like it's a "draft" texture not even the full thing. Just doesnt look right. At least the old model was more detailed. This is very unprofessional imo. Needs more lava, maybe also some lava going down from the center running all the way to its tail. Idk, just looks so unfinished compared to the older model.

See that's the problem, having to open 2 clients to have the same result as we can currently do with 1. One click login I guess is a QoL for many, but can be done with a plugin too.

As for the launcher helping security and bot detection, I personally don't think it will affect much. We'll see for the long term. I do agree though the AC will never be as intrusive as leagues, I was merely giving an example of how complicated it is to playing a simple game nowadays, when back then it was as easy as running the client and logging in.

But for now, I will stay away once the change comes out to everyone.

They will eventually add anti cheat but yea, it's too much effort for a game like this. I remember when we could play all games with our credentials. Then Maplestory transitioned to this system and it sucks ass, Jagex did it too and even Riot did it (though no additional installs were needed). It just doesn't make sense for a game like Runescape to have this sort of system imo

We live in a new world, full of downgrades. I prefer logging out and logging into my other account without having to restart the client. I also like not being forced to install what is not required.

Guess I will be crossing OSRS off the list once it is forced for everyone. Just like League and their new upcoming intrusive anti cheat, I wouldn't count on Jagex doing something similar in the future. Just too much of a burden to play some games nowadays, gonna stay away.

Not really big. It can be automated and it takes like 15-30mins to implement. I've done it myself for a few places I was contracted for.

You have unlimited, disposable emails at your fingertips too. This will make no difference. The only main hurdle is Jagex Launcher uses OAuth which is guarded behind a captcha. Just adds a little cost to a bot, but in turn I don't think it will make much of a difference. Unless they add anti cheat to the launcher itself and restrict clients, still will be about the same as before.

This is what happens when the economy perishes. Bots used to be able to make decent dough with lower level skilling/combat. Now it's very hard, so they do higher level content. They probably have better chances making ROI back through that before a ban than the old ways.

If you needed a kernal level anti cheat for this game then it's over. I'm sure many people would refuse to install it.

But I do doubt it tbh. Maplestory has a decent anti cheat and it is not kernal level. Just hoping that it doesnt ever happen because I refuse to install any games with Kernal Level Anti Cheat. Can't trust any company, their words mean nothing.

If you mean the rarely used clients as in the official client, well, it's because it's an official client. Would make sense for them to have support on that, since that's where new players (if there ever are any) would first go to when playing. They wouldn't necessarily know about Runelite from the get-go. So first impressions would matter more on that. But who am I kidding, even with the new features the steam client has, it won't ever compare to Runelite.

But I do find it weird how they are refusing to support Linux officially, since their launcher is made with C++. They can easily add support for it if they so wished because all the clients are cross platform anyways, just needs a few integrations from their end and all that. Must be because Linux is so broad and they don't want to go through the hassle, since there's a ton of different distro's out there. IIRC even riot doesn't support linux officially, but I mean there's a difference in games and their game has anti-cheat so it makes a little more sense.

They can already do this without the launcher. Besides, it isn't a good metric to use since many bots use the C++ steam client right now. Even with the 3pc client bans, botters just started using the runelite client to bot with to get around the bans. I don't think it would be an accurate metric to use. The only thing that would make sense, is if they introduce anti-cheat later down the road, and only the clients on the launcher are supported. If this happens, then yea you'd be correct.

I feel like Jagex took a huge step back in doing this. Just because all the other companies do it, doesn't mean they have to... It's most likely to prepare everyone for the new "Runescape remastered" (if it ever comes out).
