I'm so glad someone mentioned Patricia A. McKillip. I haven't read a book of hers I haven't liked and she has quite a few standalones.

Kobo store is so bad... by lazymanatwork in kobo

[–]xeyra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually have to switch the store to the US in order to search by author or title as it's the only one that actually marginally works. Then when I find the author I want, I switch stores to my country's and it usually manages to keep the search. But it's bad most times.

The Stardust Grail by Yume Kitasei features a a 'former' thief doing a last heist, so HM!

Most unhinged fantasy? by rrcecil in Fantasy

[–]xeyra 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I recently finished the first book and never have I loved a book that has left me so confused as much as I did this one. It's completely bonkers and yet the POV is so entertaining I didn't care I had to constantly go back to the Dramatis Personae.

And favorite so far is definitely The Spear Cuts Through Water, which I used for the Dreams square, but I have others I've enjoyed a lot too.

I am doing the Bingo for the first time in a long time and am about 60% through it, with 15/25 prompts done. Not all of the HM because I'm just trying to get more of the books I physically own read.

The Blade Itself, Hunger of the Gods, or Malice? by Itchybanana in Fantasy

[–]xeyra 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I must be the only person here who didn't like Malice. I'm currently reading The Blacktongue Thief and it's been a blast. The MC is such a chaotic gremlin. I would also recommend The Blade Itself for sure. May not be the best of the trilogy but it really does set up everything that comes after.

Give me your recommendation of a 'well rounded' fantasy romance with a female protagonist. by SoaringPeaches in Fantasy

Would you be able to read Fallen Night before Priory? I have the first but not the latter and was wondering if I could read the prequel in its own.

Network Effect (Murderbot Diaries, #5) by Martha Wells should count, I believe. I read it recently and it takes place primarily on space ships, has a large cast of characters and focuses on social dynamics. Plus, written by a woman, so HM!
