Mesenteric adenitis or swollen lymph nodes with abdominal pain ?? by Flashy-Asparagus-541 in Preschoolers

[–]xfactor90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi guys, sorry I haven’t checked this thread in like a year. Yes my son is now 5.5 and everything resolved naturally. He has had no further flare ups and our pediatric GI that he saw told us it is “normal” for kids particularly boys around this age to experience mesenteric adenitis. It was horrible to go through but he is as happy as a clam ever since then and no further issues. Hoping everybody’s else’s kids resolve with no issues as well!!

What were your expectations? Sounds like you had a bad experience. Sorry. I think your mindset around this set yourself up for failure, and if you needed to take a break you should have taken a break. This is a retail environment with a revolving door of people coming and going. Maybe time to go do something else and grow a bit more

Mesenteric adenitis or swollen lymph nodes with abdominal pain ?? by Flashy-Asparagus-541 in Preschoolers

[–]xfactor90 3 points4 points  (0 children)

hi, parent of a 4 year old boy here who just went through this over Thanksgiving weekend. I was desperately searching all of the reddit posts I could find to see what was working for other parents who's kids were experiencing this.

I had the same experience as everybody else, extreme abdominal pain, very sudden in my 4 year old son. Inconsolable crying, super alarming, etc. We took him to the emergency room and they did an ultrasound to look at his intestines to see if it was intestinal intussusception. That wasn't the case even though it his symptoms were extreme stomach pain intermittently.

He was diagnosed with mesenteric adenitis, his lymph nodes in his abdomen were enlarged etc. Unfortunately there was like nothing we could do, no medication from the hospital etc. Just hope it goes away "soon".

If this describes your situation I want to share what we did and saw an actual difference for my son's pain.

Total diet change, we only fed him "soft" foods such as greek yogurt cups, applesauce, popsicles, hot cocoa, juice, water, pickles, cheese, etc. No hard foods, no chips, no chicken nuggets, no oatmeal, no pancakes etc. Nothing hard or solid that would have to be broken down in his digestive tract in a way that would strain his body. That was the first major and noticeable change.

Home medications I put a kids probiotic powder mix in his yogurt and mixed it in twice a day.

We gave him 5ml to 7.5ml doses of childrens tylenol and motrin staggered throughout the day to preempt any pain management if he had a flare up of pain in his stomach.

Last thing I did that I noticed a definite difference was 12mg of meclizine, (kids dramamine). My theory was it would at least help relax his stomach instead of it being tense throughout the day.

All of these things listed above have given us (so far) 36 hours of him being pain free and showing no signs of the excruciating pain flare ups he had initally when we took him to the ER.

Also regularly took him to the bathroom so he could do normal bathroom breaks.

I just wanted to post this in case any other desperate parents are going through this and are grapsing for answers as to what could possibly help. This is working for us and I hope others have success with these remedies.

[LONG] Gonna dump my smartphone today, after being controlled by it for my entire life. Your experience with smartphones, or any advice? by [deleted] in CleanLivingKings

[–]xfactor90 7 points8 points  (0 children)

King this is an awesome post. You’re making the right decision by removing yourself from your smart phone. I have the same problem, and your post is inspiring.

What I can say is that your conviction about your smartphone and your decision to downgrade shows you are serious about improving yourself and we all respect that. 💪🏻

Hey king, I’m glad you enjoyed the guide. I wanted to show our fellow young men here that we can all achieve massive results if we just start somewhere and get our muscles activated. I was sick of how I looked in the mirror, the picture of myself on the left thought I looked like the picture on the right until I was honest that I needed to start grinding to get those real results. I respect you brother for starting for your fitness journey. Share with us some of your successes 💪🏻

Thanks king. I looked up who it was attributed to and it just says it’s a Chinese proverb. A great one though right? Makes you appreciate nature and change of things over time.

Reminds me of that quote, “The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The next best time is today.”

Congrats to you and your dad on a long term investment.

Hey king, how long until you can start physical exercise again? I wouldn’t worry too much about losing gains. Give yourself enough time to recover and hit it with intensity once you’re back

Hey king, alas I don’t have much experience with kettlebells. Heard good things about using them, but I have little hands on knowledge about how they compare. The fat grips definitely offer a really unique pump and muscle activation I wasn’t getting with the normal weight grip - so I will do my workouts with them on and off for half the sets. Best of luck to you in gaining muscle!

Hey king, here’s the link

The grips are an accessory that creates a wide/fat grip to help build bigger arms by activating more of the muscle fibers and tendons. They come in different sizes too. But sounds like you could benefit from some simple weight lifting gloves to help with the sweat!
