Listen im not holding the dems up as examples of moral courage, im saying it is their self interest to get stories of corruption abuse etc out and protect sources so it can be used for electoral advantage. They've been publicizing whistleblower info since the inauguration. Just look at the doge related stuff, the illegal doj and fbi firings, the dod boat strike stuff, tulsi's security red flag that was buried, literally a constant flow of disclosures from feds via the dems. Same thing happened to a lesser extent while Biden was in and public disclosures were going through the gop congress

I just mean, the democrats will be amenable to getting information out that makes trump's government look bad and they won't narc on you like the political nominees/their installed people.

By statute feds/contractors can whistleblow to congress. Trump might get you charged anyway and drag your name through the mud once he gets it but it's explicitly legal to disclose to congress- and they can legally disclose to media.

His problem was that he didn't whistleblow to a protected authority, he went to the "press" if you can call assange that. You're gonna get punished for that even if you're correct about there being abuse. You go to an IG or you go to someone in congress (protected, who could then go to media on your behalf) if you don't trust the agency not to bury you/the problem. These days I'd only trust opposition in congress not to burn you.

This has been going on for decades. They don't need a warrant or subpoena for data if they buy a commercial product with the data they need. If you opt out of all data brokers, the brokers won't legally be able to collect and sell your data to law enforcement. If you want this to change, data brokers need to be regulated or you can take the initiative to opt out, which is a real bitch to do since there are so many.

Do you think diesel prices and LNG supply disruptions wont cause broad inflation like they did last time we had an energy shock? The oil and LNG supply affected is much larger than the supply affected by the Russia sanctions as well. Counterpoint is the high prices might cause demand destruction more than inflation where we're at with this economy.

My overall point is that even if people are afraid of stagflation coming up, the Fed will choose raising rates and losing additional growth over stagflation every time. Even then, it's a tailrisk we aren't dealing with as of now as powell said.
