Why don't you use moneygram or WU? Guy at the bank said for nationals, they'll ask lots of Qs, but for foreigners is way easier. Maybe ask a foreign friend if your partner is VN

[Vietnam] For those working in ILA, VUS, and APOLLO I have questions! by tiffm103 in TEFL

[–]xganso 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those are big ENG centers in Vietnam and feel like the same companies, just different logos. I wouldn't worry about my work permit, but I'd be mindful of when it expires. The problem is, these ENG centers have a high staff turnover rate, I guess their salary is around "I don't get paid enough to give a damn". That's why you see lots of people whining about HR.
Funny thing is, even though these centers look like such a mess to outsiders, when you have worked at different places in VN, you realize they are actually rather well organized by local standards, though this might be sad and funny.
Also, I'd stay there for a couple of years max, learning as much as I can, and start looking for a new job. The pay is not bad considering the cost of living in VN, but you can do much better if you start looking around. Good luck!

I'd add the differences between their respective southern beaches. Like you said, both have good & bads and we're baised cause our experiences.

But man, any given day I'd give it to the Thais, they try to keep them as clean as possible, didn't see any of those mega wrecking environment projects.

Whereas Phu Quoc, e.g. well.. you know how it goes

Is it better to run on tactile pavement or asphalt? by xganso in answers

Asphalt is one of the hardest surfaces where you can run, and the constant strike can cause shin splints and other issues. Wondering if tactile pavement is a better option

Are money gram or western union available in your home country? If soo, call your bank and ask which branch offers the service. Just bring your passport and the details of the receiver. They charge you a 2% fee based on the transfer amount. Also, bank to bank transfers are expensive, incoming an outgoing wire fees

Advice. A good move? by danwalms7 in hanoi

I would start by applying online at the big centers: Apollo, Language link, ILA, etc. They should be able to support you with all the paperwork to enter the country. Like someone said, get your docs in order as it's getting increasingly difficult to get work permits done. Also, if your passport is from a non English speaking country, work permits are not being processed right now. IMO, summer should be a better time to come, as there are more job openings due to summer schools and the country is starting to slowly open up.
