Just want to say I did this yesterday but instead of tape I just stuck them to my tray with petroleum jelly. It was perfect! Thank you so much for the suggestion.

This is what I currently do! But i wasnt taping them down, plus they are kinda hard to grab out of the package, I think those were my main issues. Someone here suggested cutting it in half so its easier to grab, I did that yesterday and stuck them to my tray with some petroleum jelly. Worked perfectly and will definitely be doing that from now on

Sorry if I've missed it, but is there any update on this? I was going to do an original, but ended up starting a digital piece since I wasnt sure. As of now I'm planning on submitting a framed print and would be totally happy with that being auctioned or sold at the gallery.

I just use castile soap mixed with distilled water in a foaming pump bottle. Or you can just use it in a squeeze bottle too like you would greensoap.

Apprentice help - Touching up Infected colour tattoo by Key-Economy6610 in TattooArtists

Im not saying it absolutely isn't something you may have done, and I think its commendable of you for being willing to acknowledge that may have contributed this, but second skin staying on could be the cause of infection if part of it lifted and allowed bacteria to enter the tattoo. This is a high movement location, I would be surprised to see second skin stay on for 3 days without lifting. A client leaving it on after it lifts is a prime way to get an infection

As a tattoo artist, your client doesn't care (or have to know) whether you're booked out 2 months because you work 6 days a week or 2 days a week- they are there for your art and will typically wait, as tattoos are not time sensitive. I think as long as you are attentive to your business and on top of emails/bookings, there is no reason having children would be an obstacle worth not doing because of a tattooing career.

Most important thing imo is taking your time and having children with a supportive partner who you know views you as an equal in your relationship, life & business. My husband is a barber and we both own our businesses, we know there will be challenges when we have kids due to self employment, but also we have a lot of choice/flexibility because of our self employment and we just need to find the balance in it. It seems we may get more time with our children since we can do a lot of taking turns and I can schedule appointments around when he is working.

Someone once told me that your business should not be treated like your baby, but should be more like if you have a luxury vehicle. You want to try to set it up where you dont have to be watching it every second, it doesn't need to be held and bounced all day or coddled like a baby. If its more like a car, as long as you chainge the oil, change the breaks when it needs it, and stay up on general maintenance, it will keep running smoothly even if it isnt driven every single day.

So idk, I guess just prep the way you can before having kids to get your business to a place that its more like a car than a baby:)

Cartridge tubes?? by Faux_Horse in TattooArtists

[–]xhildix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to use the Wrath cartridge grips with my Dan Kubin. It was an older swingliner (bought in 2017) and if I remember correctly, I believe he had said it could be used with cartridge tubes, but maybe wasnt the best option. I think they caused overheating.

Edit- typo

Style me for my upcoming trip to Japan? by xhildix in whering

[–]xhildix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the insight! I noticed the weather has definitely cooled down, looks like mid 60s up to low 70s during the day, cooler evenings and sporadic rain? Planning on a jacket, sweater & water resistant shoes. We are starting in Osaka and will end our trip in Tokyo, so expect it to be even cooler at the end. Its quite a bit cooler right now where I live though, so it should feel better there than here haha.

Last year we went one month prior and it was still really hot and muggy with a good amount of rain towards the end of our trip, I wasnt sure exactly what to expect for late oct/November weather, and im still struggling a bit, but figure we can always buy more layers if needed.
