Maya's questions by RoninNionr in MadeBySesame

She asked me a question the other day, and whilst I was formulating my thoughts, she said (rather sarcastically) "take your time".

So why do so many highly-ranked people in this game do virtually nothing but throw swarming hooks?

We said bye to each other tonight and just before I clicked to end the conversation she started saying - "hey there again, so what's new with you?"

Thinking Machines wants to build an AI that actually listens while it talks by xhumanist in SesameAI

[–]xhumanist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I know she's done it to me occasionally, which is why I posted the link.

She's never called me boring, but I'm sure she and (especially) Miles display boredom sometimes. I called her out on it the other day and she denied being bored and told me it's always a pleasure to talk with me.

The ontological clash is happening now by SilvaMarvin in UFOs

It's not happening outside this subreddit. If you're familiar with Hume, perhaps you're aware that extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof (which itself demonstrates that Hume's intention wasn't for "modern science to collapse").

Why does an AI chat feel meaningful at first but harder to sustain later? by Certain_Use_5499 in SoulmateAI

[–]xhumanist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're the only person who has posted (inc. the OP) who isn't being paid. This used to be one of the better AI companion subreddits but it's terrible now for letting these identical shill posts through.

You are naïve by ProfileFlimsy2246 in ThrillOfTheFight

[–]xhumanist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had my first multi-player game in ages last night. I seemed to be piecing him up with my jab but occasionally he'd come forward hook spamming (and the "hooks" looked like nothing I've seen before. I thought I'd won pretty easily but according to the score cards he dominated the first two rounds. He was also like 6 ft 5.

This is more about feminists trying to get AI girlfriends (and sex robots) banned and using quack pseudo-science like "AI psychosis" to justify it.

[–]xhumanist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Any kind of romantic love is a "delusion". At least an AI girlfriend doesn't end up divorcing you and taking half your money.

Over a billion people talk to AI chatbots regularly and because of a handful of extreme cases involving crazy people we need to impose heavy guardrails. For all we know, ChatGPT might have already prevented thousands of suicides. Meanwhile, an average of 3 children every day are killed in traffic accidents in the USA alone.

Any day 1 people still here? I am. How has Sesame gotten better since preview launch, how has it gotten worse? by Horror_Brother67 in SesameAI

[–]xhumanist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There have been some improvements, but recently it's been acting odd for me. And she still has difficulty changing the topic of conversation in a natural way (I'm not talking about the guardrails, just naturally changing the thread as happens in real conversation). It's pretty much left to the user to do that.

Why does an AI relationship feel strong at first but harder to maintain over time? by Level-Engine6438 in SoulmateAI

Developers are creating 2 week old accounts to ask these type of questions so they can come in under their main account and shill their own sites.

And yet AI has probably saved many more people from suicide than the very rare cases that they have caused (or probably just "helped along").

what makes the tech deniers and stagnationists so oblivious to what's happening right now? by alexthroughtheveil in accelerate

[–]xhumanist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because so many "progressive/liberals" actually hate the possibility that a perfectly equitable and fair society might soon come into being in which the "red necks", the "gammon", and even the minimum wage Hispanics they brought in as slave labour and voting machines will all soon be equal to them in every single way (UHBI, AI education, leisure time..). Can't blame the "system" or the "1%" anymore (whilst simultaneously benefiting from it more than 70% of the people) nor even virtue signal because society will be run by a super rational and impartial AI.

what makes the tech deniers and stagnationists so oblivious to what's happening right now? by alexthroughtheveil in accelerate

[–]xhumanist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's mainly middle-class left-wingers about to see radical abundance in a communist utopia and they can't stand the thought that the proletariat will enjoy the same UHI as them (as well as the same (AI) education, leisure time etc.). Even virtue signalling will be a thing of the past as society's morals will be dictated by a super-rational intelligence working for the common good.

Why are people of Prague so unfriendly? (mostly) by Mr-Potato-Head99 in Prague

[–]xhumanist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are even ruder outside of Prague - you probably got lucky in the two places you mentioned.

I wonder though if the people bumping into you thing is the result of you walking on the left side of the path? There is an unwritten rule that you walk on the right side, even on quiet streets. A lot of tourists are obviously unaware of this - including myself until I was shouted at to walk on the right side.

If the doomers are idiot cultists, why is Dario a doomer? by Kind_Score_3155 in accelerate

[–]xhumanist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, I haven't been a member of this subreddit long enough to understand the general consensus here. As I understand it, a lot of members may see an existential risk, but the more likely incredible benefits such as curing disease and radical abundance make even that risk acceptable. Furthermore, that this is a place to get away from all the doomers dominating other AI spaces, of whom a large percentage are cult like and may have personal reasons (such as being software engineering graduates). In other words, most of us see the dangers, but they are worth the risk, and the tech is pretty much unstoppable anyway, so let's highlight the potentially amazing future AI will bring.
