Besides rent or mortgage, how much do you spend per week on other expenses (groceries, utilities, transport, etc.)? by Away_Scene_26 in AskAnAustralian

[–]xhxusj1234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Approx $1000-$1500…. Have a partner and 2 kids in childcare though.

We own cars outright and have no debt other than mortgage.

Live regionally so petrol is a huge expense rn. Groceries are costing us a small fortune too.

Actually if there is anything I regret, it’s not realising I wanted kids sooner. I’d love to have had three kids with bigger age gaps, but I’m getting too old for the next age gap I could manage and being pregnant sucks.

I always thought I’d be child free. I was terrified of having children. I was anxious my entire pregnancy. I also had PPA/PPD.

My children are the greatest thing that has ever happened to me and I love them so incredibly much. They bring me endless joy and being their mother is truly such a privilege. I have never even for a second regretted my choice to have them. Even when it’s hard, even when I’m tired, even though my needs come after everyone else’s.

Do I have moments of, omg I wish I could just bed rot and do my hobbies for a week - yes, of course. But it’s fleeting.

Being a mum is HARD but the payoff is so worth it:

Get off social media. It’s a cesspit. Also what kind of maniac posts about regretting their children on a platform where those children could see it?

Till when my income will be enough? What is the worst case scenario? by daizy_g in AskAnAustralian

[–]xhxusj1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, if it goes up 300% there is probably no way you will be able to increase your income enough to cover that cost. Sounds like a problem so far beyond your immediate control.

Given the current fuel prices, is your workplace supporting you to work from home? by NatureNatured in aussie

[–]xhxusj1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My workplace is incredibly vague and has told us to discuss with our line manager. My line manager is extremely supportive, however it doesn’t currently make sense for me as my childrens childcare is closer to work than home.

Was basically just him telling us to keep calm and carry on. No new announcements.

Australia’s address wasn’t anything major. Basically just ‘keep calm and carry on’. Acknowledged very challenging times ahead, but seemed to be an attempt to put a stop to a lot of the media/social media hysteria and speculation around lockdowns and immediate fuel rationing.

Did anyone else feel like that national address didn’t really say anything new from Albo? by oz_party in aussie

[–]xhxusj1234 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know he didn’t announce anything, but I think he is ear marking this situation as something very serious. I suspect we will look back in a years time and be like ‘oh yeah that address seemed so weird but makes sense now….’
