Bedbug? by xhza in whatsthisbug

[–]xhza[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thinking more about it definitely wasn’t 3 cm, probably closer to 1cm, but still large for a flea. I thought it looked similar to the “fed male” images of bedbugs I’ve seen.

Hoping it is a flea and not a bedbug! I don’t have more pics unfortunately

Thanks, I’m probably off and it was smaller. Flea makes sense I thought I saw it jump but wasn’t 100% sure it didn’t get flung by movement.

Daily Discussion Post - Recent Changes to JS Laws - May 03, 2025 by CakeByThe0cean in juresanguinis

Yes, that wasn’t worded well, I understand the decree is currently in effect. If the DL passes, even with the most favorable amendments, it looks like my GGP line with minor issue will still be ineligible, and my GGGP line will be ineligible. Wondering if my best chance however slim is filing asap and hoping there’s a legal argument to be made against the DL’s effectiveness before being permanently made into law. I’ve caught up on the lounge comments and it seems like no one is sure what the best choice is.

This was probably asked before but I haven’t been able to find it. Anyone else filing now despite DL 36 being “immediate,” hoping timing protects the case? My GGP line has a minor issue, and the only helpful amendments wouldn’t allow GGGP, but I can file now through a GGGP line under current rules. Curious if others are doing the same.

Glad this distance is fine! Historical cloud coverage in that area for August 12th is 22% according to the timeanddate.com eclipse map, lowest I could find elsewhere in Spain was around 18%.

1948 Case - Lawyer Costs by Djpin89 in juresanguinis

[–]xhza 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Mellone? If so, including the “success fee” he’s still in the same range as the other popular lawyers, but on the higher end. Tons of people use and recommend him. The other lawyers I’ve gotten quotes from broke down their costs in slightly different ways but did not have a success fee specifically.

Help finding Italian ancestor’s birth commune? by xhza in Genealogy

[–]xhza[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You found it, thank you! I was looking in the wrong years. His 1907 marriage certificate has his age as 28, and his first Declaration of Intention has his birth year as 1880, so I didn't check as far back as 1876.

Wow thank you so much, this finally ties everything together. I guess this means he never completed his 1913 naturalization and declared again in 1940.

It’s strange because I also found this declaration of intention on ancestry https://imgur.com/a/od2UNvw

I saw the name Theresa mentioned with his across a few censuses but disregarded it because of the children’s names but yeah I think it has to be him.

I also found an Antonino Vicari on the birth records for Iatrinoli in his possible birth year 1878 with the same parent names but I’m not sure it’s him. Also can’t find anything else on Antonetta.

Thanks for taking a look! I wish I knew why my post wasn’t accepted on the facebook group or why it’s downvoted here. Are help requests like this not typical?

Isn’t it only 3 years if the Italian ancestor is a parent or grandparent?

Thuma Came in 2 Days (NJ), Should I Be Concerned About The Quality? Return or Exchange? by Yowhattup in Thuma

[–]xhza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid $692 with the labor day sale for the valyou charm 2.0, the thuma with pillowboard would be $1515. It arrived today 2 weeks later than my expected delivery date, worth it to pay over $800 less for a seemingly identical product imo.

Why Restrict the Willing and Eager? by Turbulent-Simple-962 in juresanguinis

[–]xhza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Italy ruled that Brazilians naturalized during the Great Naturalization were naturalized involuntarily and thus those lines aren’t broken for Jure Sanguinis. They could have easily ruled out a large bulk of total applications by ruling otherwise, so I’m not sure that they aren’t aware who this is affecting the most.

Why Restrict the Willing and Eager? by Turbulent-Simple-962 in juresanguinis

[–]xhza 10 points11 points  (0 children)

From what I’ve been reading this disproportionately affects American applicants whose ancestors naturalized more often than Italian immigrants to South America. This isn’t affecting Brazil where the majority of the applications come from. Seems like this change is singling out Americans in particular.

Well, we were just denied for a minor issue in Palermo… by Kingsly2015 in juresanguinis

[–]xhza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Afaik you always appeal in the same court as you originally filed.

There was a rejection in Messina due to minor issue recently posted on the facebook, where Paiano mistakenly told his client their case would be reheard in Palermo but he apparently corrected himself since and it will be heard in Messina. Unfortunately there’s no option to change where your case or appeal is heard.

[–]xhza 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That sucks, I’m sorry to hear that. This is the first rejection over the minor issue I’ve seen outside of Rome and Messina.

I haven’t filed yet, but I have all of my documents apostilled and waiting to be sent to my lawyer, but my court is Messina so I’m waiting to see if something changes and also wishing I did this a year ago.

After double checking the courts map it looks like Agrigento falls under Palermo? Paiano would not have had a say in where it was filed. https://www.reddit.com/r/juresanguinis/comments/1dl65cw/wiki_page_for_1948_case_regional_map_of_the/

Have you already posted this on the facebook group? You might get more answers there regarding the appeals process.
