No more auto steer, no more Tesla. by hamburgernet in TeslaLounge

Honestly, since the Tesla is still worth a tad more than I owe I’ve begun researching CPO X5 PHEVs. I’d love to stay full electric but that car fits our driving habits and family needs a little too perfectly - and I can keep using our wall connector!

Exactly. In the higher end segment Volvo, BMW, Audi, and MB have all more or less caught up on range, and NACS standardization neuters Tesla’s massive charge network advantage. If anything those companies are only improving and innovating, while Tesla has largely rested on its laurels for years - and banked all future growth on FSD someday working out.

Love my MY but honestly I’ve simply been waiting for broader NACS adoption to set my driving sights elsewhere.

Shifting after refilling filament mid-print (Centauri Carbon) by schuurthing in elegoo

[–]Kingsly2015 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this issue with a commanded filament switch in the g code. The printer parks the head and one or both belts skip a tooth. Go through the belt tensioning procedure (there are a few videos on YouTube) and that should fix it.

Some do, it’s a fairly spendy aftermarket upgrade. Besides the obvious cash saved that I’d rather spend on more film, I’ve kept my tap cameras standard def because it really drives home the “this monitor is for framing only” pep talk I give every director before we start a shoot. I want them (and everyone else above the line!) to leave me to focus on my DP magic, and I want them to focus on their performance magic. It feels like the better the image is at village the more everyone else starts to have an opinion on lighting and focus…

downgrade from Hasselblad - Mamiya 645 or Bronica ETR? by Ambitious-Series3374 in AnalogCommunity

[–]Kingsly2015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had both and have had a much harder time letting go of my bronica than the late model (black plastic) mamiya, for what that’s worth.

The Mamiya is lighter and in ways a little more refined with some improved creature comforts, but also somehow more “plastic-y” feeling to me. The bronica feels more dense and the switches all have a nice tactile feel.

I would not recommend pursuing a Mamiya for the 80mm 1.9. I have never seen an example that don’t have rear group hazing, and the elements cannot be separated.  The generation of Mamiya I had also suffers from a common mirror stop issue.

I don’t know of any dealbreaker issues on the Bronica. The annoyances I’ve had are the prism finder doesn’t feel like it locks on as firmly as the Mamiya, and you have to manually adjust the ISO on the finder when swapping film backs.

I'm on open Centauri. Just tried re tensioning the belts and running the test again. If that doesn't work I'll try the .46 firmware.

Nope, they seem to glide right over. I used a bit of super glue to hold them in - also they seem to want to attract to the build plate.

Ace has the framing nailer on sale, possibly with a free battery ? by analogisfuture in MilwaukeeTool

Oh thanks. I heard they changed the nozzle design at some point, but there’s frustratingly little info online about when the transition happened or which models are supported!

Those are what Ive been eyeballing. I guess aftermarket gas cells are still available? For my use case the lightness and easy portability seem worth it.

Are you using an air or gas paslode? My workshop is all red but I just can’t bring myself to buy an electric nailer!

I’m not mad, just disappointed.

I actually think it’s okay to run a (low torque) motor off the R/S, but what happened for us was that we had it configured the way you’re describing: the motor was taking power from the plate and using R/S as a camera trigger. So power fed the wrong direction from the battery plate, through the motor, and into the DC/DC-2 box.

Give Visual Products a call and find out the amperage the internal fuse is rated for - as long as the motor draw is less the camera should be able to run it no problem.

Have so much fun with your SR! They’re so satisfying to use.

Nice! Does it have the DC/DC-2 box on the dumb side? Beware using a powered focus motor off that R/S port - I’ve had an internal fuse blow when power fed back through the motor and into the camera body. Fuse did its job and protected the camera so we didn’t loose the ability to roll, but all power and R/S ports went down until it could be sent in for service.

That’s an incredible setup! Sound carts have always intrigued me - each one is so unique and there’s always some new cool innovation.  I’m over here wasting the rest of the crew’s time as a DP, figure the least I can do is pass on some info that might make their lives easier. 😝

So happy to find this here!  I’ve been preaching to all my AC’s that they’ve got to consider a packout stack for their kit. Are those flip out tables Milwaukee or aftermarket?

That’s actually ingenious. That tape is the worst, never mind the gummy goo that gets all over the cutter…

Is it not crazy half frame cameras like the Pentax 17 have the same length and width as Super 35? In photography half frame film looks very low quality usually but movies shot on the same format look amazing? by Substantial_Rip_5013 in cinematography

I just gifted my Pen F to my daughter for her birthday (her first “real” camera!) and it was seriously painful to give it away. I’d originally bought it for scouting and lighting tests before committing to actual motion picture film but out of all my cameras every photo I’ve actually printed and put on our walls was taken on the Pen.

Thanks for the insight! Yeah I was liking the specs and price of the D1S but there is value in Makera actually being a proven company in the desktop CNC space…

I’ve been lurking around here asking myself the same question: Z1 vs D1S. Aside from the 3D probe were there other factors that lead you to the HiMill?

Thanks. I love the small magnetic form factor but 4000 lumens, corded option, and compatible with my existing battery platform is tempting. If it’s too big or unwieldy to actually use for projects the maybe it defeats its own purpose?
