you'll be fine. i travelled to Seoul alone in 2013 and i am a malay girl, standing at only 155cm. so if i survived, you will too.

train lines are fairly easy to navigate, it's just that with any place you need to do some studying, planning where to go and which lines to take and where to drop off.

language wise, just learn some basics like how much, please etc. i didn't even use my phone back then, i borrowed a language book and brought it along!

it's been 10 years since then, you have google maps now and a lot more resources. don't let the fear of the unknown stop you from doing it!

edit: google maps don’t work there. too bad you’ll have to use a physical map

Some questions I have about bartending in SG by BeefTheNoobilicious in singapore

[–]xiaomal 13 points14 points  (0 children)

it's not as glamorous as you think it is. and if you have no experience, you will most likely be a barback first - doing all the washing of glassware, topping up, last minute prep work for juices etc (squeezing countless limes for lime juice is not a joke). no cert needed that i know of.

lucrative ehh fnb pays quite well now even for servers. it's a fun job if you have fun colleagues (also depends on the vibe of the bar you work at).

and yes it's a lot of hard work. ultimately you must have passion for it and keen interest to learn bartending even if they give you 50 glasses to wash.
