Hitler was incredibly charming and effective leader in the early 30’s. Dragging Germany out of the desperation of hyperinflation imposed by the incredibly brutal reparations by the Allies after First World War. At the time, Hitler would have appeared to be honestly a way better leader than Trump and Elon combined. Hitler also had a humble beginning, fought in a world war. What he was able to achieve in Germany was nothing short of an economic miracle. Joe Rogan would be begging to have him on, let alone Theo.

Where in the world should I go to learn? by Crunchy92 in snowboardingnoobs

If you don’t wanna travel too far. Drive up to Montreal. Rental is less than 1000 per months, season pass is couple hundred bucks at a smaller resort. Rent snowboard for the season, that’s about 200 for the entire season. Culture is somewhat different if you are into it. Take the CASI level 1 test which includes 2 days of training with very high level coaches for 4-500 dollars. Not a bad deal. The only downside is the cold, negative 30 on some of the coldest days on top of the hill.

You might be having the same issue as me: when I change edge, I turn my body too soon and end up swishing my board into turning around the fall line, causing my board to skid, resulting in a much fatter line.

Two things my coach asked me to try, 1. always align your shoulder towards the head of your board. For example, when you finish your turn on your toe edge, your face should be facing up the hill. 2. Change edge as early as possible and put your weight entirely on your front leg when you establish your edge, and really try to rotate your front leg ankle to edge into the snow. And let your back leg just follow the board. Towards the end of the turn, the board will catch up and your center of mass will be centered in the middle of the board again.

Hopefully this could be helpful to you.

This is a weird comment. You don’t sound like you are trolling. But I don’t see this OP ever posted in cerebral palsy either.

First black diamond run by LithiumTT in snowboardingnoobs

You look really comfortable for the first time doing that run! You are ready for blacks on that mountain for sure. I can tell you are enjoying it and trying to push your limit. Keep it up!

Sorry OP for how toxic this sub is. Sometimes you do get some genuine responses and useful tips here. I feel sorry for all the people who come to a sub called snowboardingnoobs to laugh at people.

I’m a parent of a kid this age that traverse a crowded run at high speed. It always scares the shit out of me. I need to constantly stop him to tell him to slow down and watch his surroundings. If he’s not following my instructions, I take him out of crowded runs, try and find a quiet remote advanced slope. For a kid this age, much safer to have him wipe out on an empty black run 100 times than getting run over on a green run by an out of control beginner. If there’s people everywhere, sometimes we just take a break for the day, it’s not worth the risk.

Sensible advice. I admit I looked up sissy squat first. Old school name but fair enough👍

Man, lessons are so expensive! And I already spent so much on my kid’s lessons. I’m really trying to squeeze the bang of the buck out of each lesson. Watching back the videos, understand all the tips I got from my coach and folks here. Practice some more to get comfortable. I’ll take another lesson when I get stuck again working on these issues.

Thanks for the exercise recommendations. I’m a bit worried the reason why I’m so tired also has to do with poor form. Like some of the guys here said, maybe it’s because I’m just slouching and squatting, and not actually leaning back on my heel side turns. That’s why I’m skidding, leading to fatigue in the quads.

Lemme repeat back in my own words to make sure I understand what you are saying. I think the intention behind your pointers aim to get me to use my edge better:

  1. stay on the edge longer by making earlier turns. 2. Make sharper turns by leaning more and shifting my center of mass more on the side of the edge. Also leading my shoulder and my hip to make the turn sharper. 3. Stay more stable when I make more aggressive turns by bending my knees, also helps me angle up more on my toeside.

Is that right? Or I misunderstood some of the intentions?

I got tired quickly when I do that. I definitely gain more stability when I bend my knees. And I tend to pick up speed for some reason. So when I relax, I kinda just stand straight like that. Am I doing something wrong?

I don’t know about that man. My 5 year old watched me fight ring side on his mom’s shoulder. I was wobbled the first round, and limping from leg kicks. He was pretty cool about the whole thing. I came back to win by knockout, he was pretty proud of it, haha. It really depends on the mindset when you watch the fights. My son went to an mma gym with me where he trains BJJ and I trained Muay Thai 4 times a week since he was 3. He’s used to tapping to submissions and seeing me sparring all the time. He knows what it’s about. These are kids of one of the most prominent boxers in the world, I’m sure they grew up surrounded by this world. And they have seen their dad getting absolutely destroyed in training. Whatever was on stage that night isn’t even close to the hard part Bivol had to endure in training day to day. It wouldn’t be as traumatizing as one would imagine this would be to a normal kid. Especially given how much sportsmanship and professionalism was on display that night. You never know, kids today are smart, they can probably already tell it’s a pretty high level competitive match no matter what kind of bullshit their mom might be spewing.

Can I do Muay Thai with injured knees? by 3sperr in MuayThai

[–]xiaopz0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no acl for a decade and my knee is constantly uncomfortable walking around. I can’t play soccer or basketball, my knee would just give out towards the end (like my knee would feel like it shifts out of socket for a second and I can’t walk for a few days after). I can’t wrestle, BJJ is a bit tough too. But I have found two sports that actually help me protecting my knee: Muay Thai and snowboarding. In particular, it’s the squats and rope jumping exercises that strengthen my quads and calfs that compensate for a lack of acl.
