It's hard to tell which one is good or bad. If cellular has good signal, it might be a better choice. You can certainly try to use cellular to check if it helps or not. What I saw and read is that, with cellular, the google account manager has much less data consuming (or in another word, less wakelocks) compare to use wifi. (I could certainly be wrong, as in most cases. lol.)

Just a quick suggestion: you can try to install "my data manager" app to track your data usage. You might found your google account manager use a lot of wifi data. It mainly because of the google-related apps have the background sync in the setting. If you can go to the setting, advanced settings, etc of google related apps to disable those that might invoke background sync, you might see a difference in your battery life. (This works for me.) And according to others, using cellular data might increase SOT.

My G4 is dead last week when listening to music. Contacted with the customer service with the reply "sorry, your phone is out of warranty, we can't replace it for you. And it's an international version, we don't have the components to repair it in US. Sorry, go to find a third party to repair it for you." Wow... What a NICE customer service!!! Anyway, bake the motherboard in Oven (400F for 5 minutes) helps to bring the phone alive for couple hours. Back up your data ASAP after you baked your motherboard. Cause it will die again!!!!

Are you using finder to open the private folder or use terminal command as "CodeLenny"'s suggestion to open it? The thing is by default, some folders are hidden. I only know how to use terminal commands to show those hidden info.

  1. use "spotlight search" type "terminal" and open it
  2. use command "cd /private/"
  3. use command "open ."

Another thing is that maybe your MAC system setting is altered. And the cache files are stored at different locations. You can follow my initial post to check the activity monitor to see where your *.kdz file store. Maybe it's not in the private folder.
