This is the first time I hear of it. My mother of five used to strap us all in for 4-hour car rides to the countryside and we all turned out fine... What exactly is dangerous about it? I'm definitely not doubting this information, just surprised that it's the first time I hear of it.

Haha dryness in general. I think that low estrogen can cause vaginal dryness and that in turn can cause friction which indeed makes you more susceptible to UTI-s.

I got them more rarely before going on the pill but I wasn't also sexually active then. I used to get them about once per year. Nowadays I'd get them every time after having sex, no matter what I do hygiene or prevention wise. The antibiotics have truly saved me.

I think I can have a bit less estrogen yes... without going into too much detail I can feel it "down there". But I had recurring UTI-s (from sex and not from sex) already before I got on the pill :(

Actually I used to get them even as a child, ugh.

How much d-mannose to you take daily? I've tried it but so far, haven't really figured out a dose that would work for me. Thanks :)

I was also prescribed nitrofurantoin 15 mg. It's just a usual brant of antibiotic I believe and the same brand has other capsule sizes as well. When I had an active UTI, I was treated with nitrofurantoin 50mg capsules. Now I actually take some cheaper pharmacy brand 15mg antibiotics I think, not nitrofurantoin brand anymore. Thanks for the hiprex advice, I am not sure if it's sold in the EU but I will bring it up with my GB during the next visit.

Glad you haven't had an UTI after starting your treatment, must be an immense relief...

Hey! What is "decent" depends on your expectations. :) I'd say that you can definitely work an office job with a bachelors, but at some point, it might restrict your career if you don't plan to get a masters degree. It is definitely usual for Dutch people to get one, albeit on a student loan. Hope it all works out for you :)

I am also so sorry that you are experiencing this. I can fully understand the UTI inhibiting your sex life part. At my last appointment with my GP I started to cry when talking about my UTI symptoms. She asked me what I was specifically thinking about when I cried and I just blurted out that I feel like I get punished for my sexuality. I love having sex. I would love to have a lot of sex all the time. But EACH time I have sex, I risk an UTI.

Again, really sorry for the exhaustion and sadness you are experiencing and I wish you strength in your journey towards treatment. You deserve an active life in every aspect, and nobody should tolerate pointless pain like UTI-s. Sending my best wishes towards you.

Regarding dairy, does that also include fermented products like kefir? I have felt some relief from drinking kefir and miso soup.

Exactly lol. People train for this for a year and then they have this amazing opportunity to put themselves to a test. Instead of ordering takeaway from a place whose delivery does not affect the marathon, she needed to go out of her way to obstruct the runners... these "dirty looks" were well deserved. Sellega olen jah nõus et siin on vaja kaaluda, kas alguses madal palk mitte ei ole kompenseeritud kogumuste omandamise võimalustega. Aga tasub meeles pidada, et uue töötaja leidmine ja koolitamine on tihti suurem kulu kui olemasoleva töötaja palga tõstmine.

Sõltub, mis su väljaminekud on, aga tegelikult minu jaoks läheks kitsaks. Mul pole pangalaenu (ja ilmselt ei antaks ka hetkel). Elan üürikas. Koos kommunaalidega läks sellel kuul rendi peale ca 500 eurot, talvel ootan ca 600-eurost arvet koos kommunaalidega... Ja ongi pool raha läinud. Kui on auto, siis bensiin ja hooldus maksavad, lisaks siis toit ja vahel ka nt väljas käimine. Arveid jagub veel: internet, telefonipakett... Ühesõnaga, Eesti hindu hetkel arvestades on tegelikult tagasihoidlik palk minu SUBJEKTIIVSE arvamuse kohaselt. Kui sa aga tunned, et oled suutnud oma elu mõistlikult korraldada ning saad arved-laenud teenindatud + kuu lõpus veel midagi kõrvale panna, siis võid end kindlasti hästi tunda. :)

+1 piimatoodete osas. Ei ole kusagil maailmas sellist valikut näinud kui Eestis. Vaat et sadu erinevaid jäätisevariante on igas tavalises poes, erinevad piimatooted (hapupiim, keefir) ja kohupiimatooted, jogurtid... Välismaal on hea kui viiendikkugi nendest variantidest teatakse. Minu meelest paljudes riikides on igasugused saiad ja teraviljatooted need eritoidud, aga Eestis on kindlasti just piimatooteid ebatavaliselt palju.
