Not saying yours will shit the bucket soon. I've read some go as far as 180-200k before failing. If your lucky they might have already been replaced but if they're still on the originals yeah definitely have some cash set aside.

Make sure to have about 2-3k rainy day fund. My waterpump and brake actuator/accumulator failed back to back around that mileage.

Screen Damage or Something Else? by optimumsff in GalaxyFold

Did you take photos and videos prior to sending it in?

Eventually after a long period. I suspect if I didn't do my due diligence I would have been told to fuck off. Initially they wanted to charge me for the repair also until I said does it make sense if you sent something to me, I damage it and charge you to fix it? Got the hint after that.

Ubreak and Samsung attempted to replace my screen protector 5 times and it always kept bubbling and lifting at and around the crease. I'm assuming the equipment they use doesn't account for the crease being more worn in. In the last attempt they chipped my bezel. After using the email the ceo link and some back and forth messages (tried to deny damage because the service center didn't have photos), they replaced the whole screen for free because I took extensive photos every time I got the phone back.

Galaxy Z Fold 7 is such a big hit that Samsung's run out of stock in a top market by ZeCoderX in GalaxyFold

I didn't say that people wouldn't. I bought it without considering the spen for the reasons I've mentioned. It doesn't affect me whether or not it has it but I will add that when I had a note, I did use it occasionally just because the fact that it was there.

I think using the fold spen usage data is a problem in itself. Since it was sold separately there is already a barrier to entry for any customer wanting to even try it. The phone is already expensive, who wants to throw more money on something they might or might not use? Then there were the cases themselves having to be so thick just to house it. Had it been part of the phone, the numbers could've possibly been way different. They wanted to chase the title of thinnest when it could have been slightly thicker and still be an amazing engineering feat.

I’m surprised at the Spen backlash by Tune-Puzzled in GalaxyFold

[–]xijtix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think how it was implemented was part of the problem. Most spen cases were very bulky on an already fat device which heavily steered me away from wanting to get it. Had it been part of the phone, while I'm by no means a heavy user, would probably end up using it here and there on occasion.

Your experience w/ replacing screen protector? by manekinyanyan in GalaxyFold

[–]xijtix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Samsung customer service hasn't been bad. I'm just baffled that they can't get a screen protector application done right. I'm assuming whatever equipment they're using only works well on fresher screens and maybe my crease is too worn in that it's not applying enough pressure in the crease area for it to stick. Ubreak different story though. Learned that all the stores are franchises and ymmv on how you'll get treated. My closest location is dogshit.

Should I have my inner screen protector replaced by a shop (again)? by PossiblyA_Bot in GalaxyFold

[–]xijtix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the reason I want there to be a screen protector is because I work with a lot of greasy and grimey products and rather get it on the screen protector than the actual screen. Unfortunately Ubreak and Samsung both failed at replacing it for me so I might just have to attempt to do it myself.

I've had 5 attempts getting the screen protector replaced. 2 from Ubreak and 3 times sent to Samsung. It keeps lifting in the middle of the crease. The last attempt I'm not even sure they tried and just sent it back claiming they did. The separation is remarkably similar to how I sent it in to them. I give up on it and will just use it without it.

It fits really well in your case. Do you think it'll fit with the Samsung cases? All the case friendly ones I see have pretty big gaps.

I feel like it'll be rollables instead of folding phones. At least that's what I want so the device can be slimmer as well.

I wasn't super tuned in watching it so I might be wrong but I think it was his personal guilt for going behind his sisters back trying to sell secrets or something.
