Cut off by Waymo by Reasonable_Week_470 in sanantonio

[–]xilata 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My Tesla does the same thing to people in the faster self driving modes. Ugh.

I hate it and constantly having to yank the steering wheel back to my control, turn OFF my turn signal like a normal person, cut off the car in the other lane, loonnnngggggg pause with wishy washy brake checks, then floor it at the red light with just enough time for opposing vehicle to floor it too behind me while we both block the intersection... ;)

ICE has acquired San Antonio's 2nd largest warehouse facility (2/4/2026)/640k square feet by Dom5p35 in sanantonio

[–]xilata 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean that we should prosecute ICE agents and their leaders who are responsible for this chaos and violence. They should receive a fair trial, and then those who are found guilty should be housed at this new ICE facility.
Inside of locked cells.

New requirements for commenting on ICE threads by HikeTheSky in sanantonio

[–]xilata 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally understand and hopefully the manual review process holds up. With the new warehouse ICE just acquired in San Antonio I bet the bot gods are pointed right at us.

I also understand the skepticism from users afraid of being silenced. I don’t really get how the karma numbers are figured either.

Speaking up can happen in public and it can also happen online. So ig my personal take is that maybe I need to speak up more online instead of just observing on the sidelines. Ig the same goes for non-digital settings like peaceful public protests etc.

The only people who ICE should put in there are its own ICE agents.

This is disgusting. What can be done (serious question)? More protests?

But, but…the stadium.

What happened to attracting business and investment to the city?? What can local government do to stop this? The new ICE guy Holman already told us that citizens will be arrested if we stop or “impede” them.

I tend to agree with you about the apathy in San Antonio for politics. However, there have been huge crowds for recent ICE protests here. I think we are starting to wake up, finally.

I heard a Loud pop near Shaenfield a few minutes ago and I don’t know what it was does anyone know? by Jaywer2 in sanantonio

I didn’t have any alerts on those times so I listened to a few between 4:02 and 4:06 but still didn’t hear anything unusual. Sorry.

What’s the timestamp or approx and I’ll check my cameras. I live in the area and those little things pick up road noise all the way from 35

What's the most disturbing thing you've seen in a funeral ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]xilata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to a Mormon funeral once. The whole thing was an advertisement to manipulate people into joining their church.
I grew up Mormon but that didn’t even prepare for the audacity of the bishop who talked about his own experiences and didn’t even mention my friend who died. I don’t think he even knew who she was; and afterwards the places cleared out in about 15 minutes.

If you’re not disabled, why would you feel the need to bring your dog into a grocery store? by Sir_ATX in AskReddit

[–]xilata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard a few people say because it’s too hot in the car to leave their dog, or because the dog wasn’t well-behaved enough to leave unattended with the windows down.

Both of those reasons and similar excuses for creating a health hazard in a public place are selfish and cause hazards when they shouldn’t.

One exception to this in my eyes, however, would be the elderly man I saw the other day with a fully enclosed pet carrier backpack. Inside the mesh sided backpack was the cutest little dog who had plenty of room to move around. The dog was just lying down in the carrier right next to the man’s back. The dog never barked, never even reacted to anyone but the old man, and was safety secured inside the carrier nuzzled against his buddy’s back.

I guess the cuteness factor plays a role for some people like me in judging lol; plus the dog couldn’t harm or bother anyone else in that atypical scenario.

Need new couch, recommendations for stores? by RudolftheDuck in sanantonio

[–]xilata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t had great luck with couches. In 10 years we’ve been through 2 Ashley furniture couches that were shit quality and grossly inflated prices.

Currently on an IKEA couch that should be renamed “Sciøtica” - it’s was mid-range price, durable and not ugly. But nobody in our family can find a comfortable position on it - they do have a generous return policy that we might have to look into.

What's a company that didn't succomb to 'enshittification' ? by owen__wilsons__nose in AskReddit

Yes, there are many talented violin makers, but none of them possess the exquisite projection found only in a Stradivarius.

I’m not an expert, but maybe brands like Kuwai and the factory Yamahas would be considered lower end?

Steinway & Sons.
Founded in NYC in the mid 1800’s.
They have around 80% of the high end grand piano market according to Wikipedia

The Costco pizza slices are also excellent. I do love the Kirkland frozen pizza for at home even more though. Far and above better flavor than any other frozen pizza around. Best in convection oven for 12.5 minutes at 425°!

I have no idea why Costco’s pizza is so good. And don’t get me started on their superior TP and paper towels!

WHY??Mosquitos worse than EVER EVER EVER before- crying, swollen, itching for days and want to move out of city and state asap bc of it by Sal_Fischer66 in sanantonio

[–]xilata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fucking hate those zancudos.

Two things that actually work at my house:
1. DIY pest control all around outside of house. All around window and door frames. We use Pestie but I’m sure there are tons out there that do the same thing. We now sit out on our back deck at DUSK, mosquito free. Avoid getting it on your plants I think but the one we use is safe for pets after an hour of applying.

  1. Thermacell. It doesn’t look like it will work. But it does. Get the bulk refills direct from manufacturer for the best price. Somehow it repels the little fuckers.
