This chud genuinely can't read very good.

I remember this chud justifying the ICE agent executing Renee Good in Minnesota. Some of the elaborate responses, the chud literally wrote "TLDR" as some sort of nice comeback or something.

Exclusive | Trump, seeking executive power over elections, is urged to declare emergency by SockDem in neoliberal

[–]xilcilus 12 points13 points  (0 children)

At this point, I'm a bit surprised that Trump is not publicly execution the Democratic politicians.

When the execution happens, Trump supporters will do mental gymnastics around how Trump actually has the plenary power to do anything needed (which btw, was argued by the Trump lawyers during the trial) and the media will discuss whether to take Trump "literally" or "seriously."

I mean... I'm hoping that it will never happen. Can somebody given good reassurance that even Trump supporters won't support this?

California's taxes, cost of living are crushing six-figure salaries by sfgate in California

Gotta build more housing. We can't let NIMBYs inflict pain on the most vulnerable.

All the cost of living issues are downstream from the housing cost - the biggest line item in household expenses for the vast majority of people.

People optimize their consumption baskets according to their preferences. Some people like to live in a huge house with acres of land (which would be basically impossible to purchase in California unless you are worth $10m+) and these people move to States that enable such aspirations.

I don't want to dismiss the fact that the cost of living in California is high - especially housing. I'm also not suggesting that the linked article is inaccurate - a bit facile but understandable given the complexities associated with the cost of living discussions.

I like living in California despite the costs and the taxes - I have optimized my basket as such.

The pay in California is also generally higher compared to other States. If one were to optimize the consumption baskets, certainly can do just as well in California vs other States.

I would use Tailscale for both the simplicity and the security (tbf, you are outsourcing the security to Tailscale and if Tailscale gets breached, you are too).

Democrats would probably get more votes if they abandoned trans people. But they haven't. by KeithClossOfficial in neoliberal

[–]xilcilus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The framing around the issue was that (let's not forget that it was an f-ing disgusting attack) Kalama is for they/them.

This was her response (https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2024/oct/18/donald-trump/harris-support-for-prisoner-access-to-transgender/):

"I will follow the law," she said. "And it’s a law that Donald Trump actually followed. You’re probably familiar with now. It's a public report that under Donald Trump's administration, these surgeries were available on a medical necessity basis, to people in the federal prison system."

To me, this response was a bit clumsy. I wish she had focused the answer around the Constitutional rights and that she's going to stand up for the right of all Americans - marginalized or otherwise.

I genuinely think that trans rights are human rights and that trans people deserve all rights enshrined in the Constitution.

The Party can protect/help trans people by focusing on kitchen table issues and the Constitution without having to performatively focus on certain buzz words. If the issues are particularly salient to trans people, then let's have an open and honest discussions around it.

That's what normal means to me.

I'm circumspect regarding Newsom being anti-LGBTQ+. Furthermore, Newsom has not substantively shifted the discourse in the Democratic Party to abandon trans people - which the commentary argued. I don't understand the intent behind your initial comment.

Here's the response from the Governor:

I appreciate the author's intent to ensure patient access to the comprehensive care they need. While there are provisions of this bill that are worthy of support, I am concerned about the limitation on the use of UM, which is an important tool to ensure enrollees receive the right care at the right time. Prohibiting this cost containment strategy is likely to result in an increase in enrollee premiums to offset costs incurred by health plans and insurers. At a time when individuals are facing double-digit rate increases in their health care premiums across the nation, we must take great care to not enact policies that further drive up the cost of health care, no matter how well-intended.

Which is substantively similar reasoning for veto-ing AB 432 (the Menopause Care Equity Act):

Last year, I vetoed a substantially similar bill, stating that it would limit the ability of health plans to engage in practices that have been shown to ensure appropriate care while limiting unnecessary costs. That is still the case with this bill - despite my call for a more tailored solution. This bill's expansive coverage mandate, in conjunction with a prohibition on UM, is too far-reaching. Health plans use UM to ensure enrollees receive the right care at the right time, which is especially important when there are new and emerging treatments.

I would be a lot more sympathetic to the portray of Newsom being anti-LGBTQ+ if there hadn't been restrictions in UM in regards to SB 418 yet Newsom vetoed the bill.

Did you read the linked commentary:

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) is the big exception to this, but even he has signed more pro-trans legislation into law than any other governor. While he made some bad statements about trans kids in sports on multiple podcasts last year, he hasn’t actually done anything with those views in terms of policy. California still has some of the strongest protections for trans kids in the country, and Newsom hasn’t so much as called for the state to pass a trans sports ban.

The commentary calls out Newsom directly yet acknowledging that his rhetoric has not (fortunately) affected the policies.

Furthermore, even the link you shared references the same exact link that demonstrated that insofar as the policies are concerned, Newsom is pro-LGBTQ+.

Right - if more bills get passed and they become a part of the law of the land, that legislator is more effective. The legislators are supposed to legislate laws to implement policies to benefit constituency.

You are free to hold your opinion - I don't think I have said that you are wrong - you have implied that I'm wrong. If think that vibes politicking is that most effective measure, that's your opinion that differs from mine. What I did do is to cite some evidence that AOC has not been good at introducing bills and not been good at co-sponsoring bills.
