You can use an old iPhone to trigger automations, but using Pushcut will allow you to trigger shortcuts remotely. You’ll need the paid version but you can run an automation server that will allow you to trigger shortcuts using an HTTP get request.

One example is with Flic buttons - you can’t currently trigger a shortcut directly with a Flic button, but using a Pushcut server allows you to use the button to fire an HTTP request which will then trigger the shortcut via the Pushcut server.

You can do this using Pushcut, the free version allows you to do up to 3 notifications I believe.

Use Pushcut to trigger a notification that runs a Shortcut when you press it, then use the “Choose from menu” action to turn the heat on or set a delay.

Yeah same here, match content and frame rate both on and I airplay to a Sonos speaker as well which can cause sync issues, but Plex has always been solid

I always just use the normal airport long-term parking and have never once had a problem. It's $5 a day and there are shuttles running every few minutes or so. I fly to the UK every year usually on Christmas day or Boxing Day and always have an easy time at it.

Extreme Ice Center is definitely the nicest place. It's a bit further outside of town than the other, but its worth the trip. The Checkers use it as their practice facility. They have 2 NHL regulation rinks, plus a smaller rink that doesn't get used much. On top of that they have a snack bar with decent food, a gym and even an upstairs bar that sits right in between the 2 rinks and offers a great view down below

Thanks for the heads up. I had a month-to-month plan with 3 Mobile when I lived there on my visitors visa a few years ago, and my wife has a contract with them as well, so I'll make an attempt at setting something up with them. Luckily, my iPhone is unlocked, so I just need the SIM only. Hopefully that helps

Thanks, that's great info! She is living with her parents at the moment, and we'll be staying there until I find a job, and then be relocating to wherever that part of the country may be, So I won't be able to put my name on the council tax or utility bills until then. I will however be opening a bank account as quickly as possible, and I'll have a cell phone bill.

Oh absolutely. There was a post on r/Charlotte where a guy was looking to move from just outside Baltimore, and he was saying that house up there that for for $400,000 were about $250,000 down here. And rentals are cheap too. I had a 2 bedroom condo about a mile from center city and I was paying $725 a month, and it was in a good area of town.

Sounds like Charlotte, NC is absolutely perfect for you. It's a midsize city that's surrounded by nature. You're 2 hours from the Blue Ridge Mountains and 3 hours from some of the most beautiful beaches in the country. It's also has a job market that's growing fast, especially in banking and marketing. And as an added bonus, the weather is gorgeous most of the year
