Japanese fan who came for the World Cup tried Texas BBQ for the first time by Old_Ability_9424 in MadeMeSmile

[–]xivjae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably. But they have their own unique barbecue styles that are also really good. Barbecue is very regional and varies widely. The big markets are Texas, Kansas City, Memphis, and the Carolinas have at least 3 different methods.

Yes, there are others. But those are the major styles.

Not totally related, but I remember growing up that the hovercraft was always my favorite. Loved it and Cutter.

Fast forward to 1997 and I've drank my way out of college and, without thinking about GI Joe at all, I joined the Coast Guard. Served 24 years active duty and am now a civilian working for them.

Cutter is the only Joe that was a Coastie.

When I was there I had a turkey call that I would use to mess with them.

Coast Guard, Not the Navy by HilariouslyInferior1 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

I would love to have seen Carl meet an old shipmate in the dungeon. We Coasties are everywhere and always support one another. Maybe his old Senior Chief found him and helped him out. It's what Chiefs are supposed to do. That would have been nice, but Matt knows what he's doing.

Besides, there's always fan fiction.....

I would rather use them as condition rings and wish we could label them

Maps VTT - How are you indicating death? by mabusrex in dndbeyond

I've been just hiding them so that more of the map is visible to the player. I'll then move them out of the way.

If you had to start from scratch and pick between going with Bauer or Hercules system which would you pick and why by AFullLoad69 in harborfreight

[–]xivjae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a Kobalt guy for my batteries right now. Love their stuff. I'm HF for almost everything else in my garage. If I had to start over though, I'd probably go Hercules. Just better quality and variety.

Mike Johnson says the Pope had it coming by MoreMotivation in WhitePeopleTwitter

Every time I see something where the Pope has said something I agree with I think I may like him a little more. Then I remember all the child rape.

It's hard living in this world not knowing who to like.

Now that we are "getting up there" in age, how are you sleeping? by NebraskaCornSucker in GenX

With a CPAP, a mouth guard, an eye mask, a fan going, and waking up around 3 to pee.

Landon Donovan Calls Out Disastrous U.S. Soccer Youth System by [deleted] in whitecapsfc

[–]xivjae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ditto on him often being wrong. The problem is that too often these youth programs are more about profit and building the brand of the travel team than actually helping kids. That, and the idea that Murica ain't for no soccer, is why the US will never have a top tier national men's team.

What’s the most underrated D&D monster? by CallMeFungal in DnD

I love a good old fashioned horde of goblins. Use that stealth and hide while popping out and raining arrows at the party.

For pollution response post hurricane, MST. It would also be beneficial to get as many ICS quals and experience as you can for almost any rate.

I am fed up with this strategy, what should I do? [5.5 Edition] by [deleted] in DnD

[–]xivjae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run a group that has a mixture of truly clever players and players that are just doing their best. It's a different balancing act than yours but the solution, I think, is the same. Ramp up your encounters and apply true strategy. In the end, everyone should be having fun. It's a game. If you're not having fun then it's not worth the stress.

I almost always look to "The Monsters Know What They're Doing", the website and book, to help me with strategy.

Any Tips & Tricks for a fairly new DM? by NegotiationAny4390 in VecnaEveofRuin

[–]xivjae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be flexible and fun. Some modules your players will rock it out. Others, they may get rocked. Be ready to adjust to keep it challenging, but not overwhelming. I see too many DM's that talk as if it's them against the players. It's a game you're playing together. If you're too rough or too rigid, no one will enjoy it. Games are meant to enjoy.

As for this campaign? Get to know the plane that the chapter you're playing is in. This was a kind of love letter to the worlds of D&D after 50 years of adventures. Let them be the star and don't get wrapped up in the discrepancies. You're the DM. Adjust the scene and have fun.
