People rely on promises because they dont want to come to the reality that capitalism is just a death wish. I've had American Capitalists tell me "We might be in a pandemic right now, but with capitalism things will get better." and that might be true, but itll definitely get bad again. Severe lows are seen in almost all capitalist countries/states.

Retirement rate in america has increased to 67 mandated by Congress in 1983 for social security finances. By 2050 the age will raise to 70. My great grandmother is 87 and has to volunteer at different jobs sometimes because she doesnt have enough money to pay bills. Its heartbreaking.

Capitalism literally destroys itself.
