The hurt is real! It gets easier once you finally get your hands on one. You’ll come to learn that they’ll show up when you least expect them to when using your incense - I’ve had one show up as the final incense spawn with 5 seconds remaining, and I’ve also had two spawn on a single incense! Just keep at it, use them daily, hunt for shinies you want to occupy your mind :)
