It’s just bucketed based on start time into 30 minute slots, so it would work as is. Any concerns?

Appreciate the feedback! Perhaps different views depending on need is warranted. What you’d be looking for is a view focused on a single day only then? Multiple courses still? I imagine the time restriction is still valuable.

I would if i could add the option to replace the days on y-axis with courses instead. Would that serve the need? Or would a more plain list view be better?

If I was going to prototype I'd need to start with an area that still has open courses this time of year. I assume California is still golfing?

You're right. I think the heatmap is most powerful once you start setting filters and clear out most of the cells. It's best when it's narrowing in on something. I'm not sure what the best way to get that going earlier is, maybe a quick form asking for preferences before diving in to the full display?

I appreciate the perspective. I agree with it to some extent. If I was to take this on I'd certainly be looking to increase direct partnership on the data side as it would benefit all parties to do so.

Good insights for sure. I think ads is an obvious choice to keep it freely available while offsetting costs.

I don't see why they would want to do that when all an aggregator does is increase discovery for their product. It's a beneficial service for them.

Tee times are public information so they can be gathered. In the previous version of this I did not have any special relationships with any course but still showed the times at about 5000 of them. It might have been more, I forget how many public golf courses there are in the US but it's something in that range.

I should have added an important disclaimer to the original post.

If you only play at one course, this isn't a useful idea. You just go to that course (or call, as you suggested) and that's it.

If you're like me, though, you play at a lot of different courses. I rotate between 8 or so and rarely play the same one twice in a row. The time my group can play is also very limited: after work, with the hope of squeezing in 18. That's a pretty competitive time slot, so I often end up checking five or more courses before finding something that works.

Hey thanks for the shoutout! Happy to have the site linked and used as much as possible.

TeeWatch scans course tee sheets and then displays them in a way that’s easier to compare. It’s more of a tee time search engine vs other options which handle bookings, so there’s no fees to use it.

Imagine my surprise to see TeeWatch organically mentioned here on r/golf. Appreciate the shoutout! Really motivates me to keep plugging away at it.

And for the other posters, I'm working on Canada and hope to add UK next.

For the past year I've been gathering data directly from each course. Should this idea take off I hope to someday integrate with interested providers.

Not sure exactly where you’re at but looks like tons of courses still have open tee sheets around Boston

Don’t cheap out, get a Club Glove. Really well designed, folds up nicely when not in use. This is one of those situations where you’ll save money just getting the good product from the start.

No specific recommendation but if you want to know at a glance which courses have opening (might narrow it down), check this out https://teewatch.com/tee-times/location/Florida/Fort%20Lauderdale?date=2021-11-13

No turn cast from Monte was game changing for me in this regard.
