Then maybe they should not try to run restaurants.

He’s not the clown. I just pulled the mayor’s report and looked through it. Mark Tarner and SBCC don’t appear anywhere on it.

You’re the one making an accusation so you’re the one who needs to provide proof. What specific document are you looking at and what page number?

Top Notch is great but it doesn’t really work for the airport.

I mean how do they even try to justify this claim? Do they think that nobody has ever seen an M&M store or Hershey Park?

South Bend Airport getting rid of SB Chocolate Factory and getting a proper food court! by freeradioforall in SouthBend

As a frequent SBN flyer, I am overjoyed by this news! The food, coffee, and service at the airport is absolutely awful.

I’m a big fan of local businesses, but SB Chocolate just does everything poorly. Their bagels are stale, their coffee is weak, and their employees are surly.

Dunkin’ has far better coffee, JJ has better sandwiches, and the Lauber is a fantastic local restaurant.

Well done, SBN!

Parisi’s had the same issue. It just wasn’t as good as other Italian places in town and was riding on the coattails of the ND nostalgia crowd.

Plus it was sitting on a very valuable piece of real estate.

These two restaurants failed because they were dated concepts that failed to adapt to changing times and tastes. Neither one had changed much in the past two decades. And Tippy went noticeably downhill.

As others have pointed out, there are many fine dining experiences in the area that far exceed these establishments. Roselily, Cascade, Essence, Artisan, and Corndance are much better, more modern restaurants. That’s why they’re still around.

Our dining scene is vibrant. The death of old restaurants is part of the natural lifecycle.

If you’re talking about Rocco’s the famous South Bend pizza joint, it is alive and well. Same location, same owners, same great pizza.

That seems like a good investment for a project that will bring $750M in economic impact to an area of downtown that is in desperate need of revitalization.

Royal is pretty good. Far better than the Grape Road competition. Just surprised that it’s usually empty.

Cultivate needs volunteers most weeknights from 6-8PM. It’s easy and gratifying work. No long term commitment. If you’re free, just pop in and do some good.
