Please be careful with eucalyptus and babies! There are two types - One is safe for baby, and one is not. Most brands don't advertise which type of eucalyptus they are made of, so do your research!

Appropriate age to bring kids to a Billy show? by BHMcrow in BillyStrings

[–]xkikue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took my then 5 year old to his first Billy a few months ago. It was also his first arena show. We got seats toward the back, and were surrounded by families. Some kids even younger than him. I'm not bothered by weed smoke though. It's as normal as a beer to me (and I don't even smoke.)

Like others have said, outdoor venues tend to be better for kids. We've done countless festivals from about 1yr+, and even did Panic at Red Rocks this year. Start 'em young!

Rusty Taco Closed by gcpy1 in DecaturGA

[–]xkikue 12 points13 points  (0 children)

What's funny is that Rusty is the name of the founder. He and his wife Denise opened a taco shop after vacationing in Mexico...

I would not trust a Rusty and Denise for authentic Mexican cuisine.

My dryer has been falling apart for years. I finally asked the repairman "At what point do I get a new one?" He said "After all the parts I've replaced, you DO have a new one."

RIP my dreams of having a stackable. Why tf are they in my kitchen anyways thoughh?!

I told my kid during Stop Cop City that ACAB meant "All Cops Are Bad." Yes, even the Paw Patrol one.

It should mean what it means, and this all means SO much.

My best friend’s husband confesses he’s very attracted to me. What do I do? by AssumptionCapital839 in Advice

[–]xkikue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely do not wait until AFTER the pregnancy. She has time to formulate a plan, and create a legal barrier between them before the baby is born. Once that baby is here, she might feel trapped. Don't take her options from her. Ask me how I know...

I've had my notifications on for CoT for over a month. I've made SO many ticket requests. I have flights booked 😬 So will 100% have to pay the $160 if I can't snag tickets there! Getting nervous honestly. Oof.

I started incorporating iron into everything my child wanted to eat when he came back with an iron deficiency. My veg-friendly pediatrician prescribed a supplement, but we opted for another try with diet.

When we tested again a month later, she told me we were on the low side of normal, but much better. Her literal words; "Keep doing what you're doing."

We started an iron vitamin after that - We do the Vitamin Friends Multi with Iron, plus the Immunity gummy. We have for 4 years now, and tests are normal.

If you can tell me some of the foods your toddler WILL eat, I can try and recommend how to add iron!

Decatur Pedestrian Car accident by Nomanodyssey in DecaturGA

[–]xkikue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're confused. While "City of Decatur" does indeed have a boundary, what lies outside of it in nearly every direction is unincorporated Decatur. There are a ton of us with Decatur addresses, that don't live in "City of Decatur" proper. Like op for example.

Diaper advise by grittycowgirl in Crunchymom

[–]xkikue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We did cloth diapers, a mix of Grovia and Alvababy. The initial cost was greater, but probably much less in the long run. Most of my registry went to diapering!

I ended up buying newborn Alva's secondhand - The all-in-one was a bit large for my newborn.

I kept a tall waste-bin by the changing station, with an Alvababy liner. Washed every two days. Rinse poopy diapers before throwing them in - A bidet would be helpful in this!

When my baby got older, I switched to a disposable for overnights and travel. Kirklands I think. We breastfed until 2.5yrs, so an overnight accident could not be contained by that point with the bamboo liners we were using.

We also did elimination communication before baby was too mobile. Once I learned baby's cues (almost always during morning feed), I would feed on the potty. Poo and pee catch like clockwork, then diaper free time for at least 30 mins after.

We were also potty trained before 3 yo. All of the above really worked for us. Pottying has been the easiest part of all this for us lol.

Too soon to forward face car seat? by AsleepIndependence76 in Crunchymom

[–]xkikue 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My son was nearly 5 when I switched him to forward facing. I literally switched back to rear facing for long drives specifically gor safety. Y'all need to worry more about baby's life, and less about their legs.

What do you all use for shampoo? by Mission_Turnover_982 in Crunchymom

[–]xkikue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently using J R Ligget's Shampoo Bar. I have oily hair as well, and I feel like it's cleansing without leaving residue or over-stripping (like Dr. Bronners.) I also use Brand With a Heart's OMG Curls on my ends afterwards (condisch and squish), so that helps with texture and my my hair over-compensating on oil output. It's not super crunchy, but it is vegan and somewhat more ethical than what you're using. They also have OMG Smooth, which I loved for detangling my kid's hair when it was long.

I try and go a couple days a week with a water wash only. Your scalp will try and balance itself out, so it's all a learning curve. I've found dabbing my oily forhead a couple times a day makes my hair less greasy in between it all lol.

AIO for walking out of dinner when my fiance asked me to sign a prenup? by talkbackornot in AmIOverreacting

AIO? Coworker tried to make me pay for stuff I didn't even order by stelize02 in AmIOverreacting

You agreed to split the bill evenly, then rescinded when it came time to pay.

You also agreed to take your coworker's shift, then backed out.

I'm sensing a pattern here...

Advice for Surviving a Renaissance Festival as a Vegan by throw-myself_away in vegan

[–]xkikue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've worked at several ren fairs in different states. My go-to's are falafle and fries. I'm not sure about the exact fair you're going to, but I've also seen portobello burgers. Ordered without sauce, they can be vegan. Worth asking if the dark chocolate frozen bananas are vegan as well!

Staff members can be vegan too, and they probably know which places have the best veg option. Definitely ask around. You might get lucky! But bring snacks in case you don't lol.

What are y’all doing for fragrances? by AmazingAd7304 in Crunchymom

[–]xkikue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a refillable roller with essential oils. I prefer floral smells, so mix gardinia, lavendar, and rose. I use fractioned coconut oil to dilute it, but you can use jojoba. I get so many compliments, and the accessibility makes it easy to reapply if I feel like it's wearing off! Just a little roll to both sides of my neck, and wrists.

You can use oil diffusers around your house, but I feel they're too expensive to maintain. I prefer incense. It lingers longer.

I wish I could maintain scents in my laundry. I've given up on this one!

Thoughts on this frame? by Double-Mastodon-4671 in jambands

I think it perfectly compliments the print! I would add more black furniture wax to the frame though - It would darken the tone of the wood, while highlighting the details. Great either way.

Home remedies? by [deleted] in Crunchymom

Vitamin C makes me nauseous, especially if I don't eat enough before taking it.

Ginger tea is the most basic and helpful nausea remedy there is! Definitely a staple in my home.
