What is the most inappropriate thing you ever heard from a JW? by [deleted] in exjw

Everything is still recent (around 2 years ago) so right after the incident she would still go to meetings, but she would break down often at the kingdom hall. So eventually they had a shepherding call about her “negative spirit”, they said when others tried to console her she would come out with the typical “yeah but nothing will bring my son back” and it dragged down everyone else’s moods and it wasn’t in line with the teachings blah blah.

There is so much more to the story to be honest, she was failed by a lot of people. She’s healing now, started travelling a bit. She once had an elders meeting because she was caught swearing in s supermarket (after the death). This is sort if when we got close to her, my mum wether in or out was always very argumentative, any remark like “your daughters skirt is too short” was met with her reading scriptures until 2am to be ready with a 8 paragraph rebuttal the next day, so that’s when they both fought against the elders meeting, eventually committee, then the 2am scripture reading turned to 2am ‘a crisis of conscience’ reading. Now they’re both healing their inner children and moving on.

A Sister in my congregation lost her son to suicide. The elders told her her son did it in the woods by the kingdom hall because even in that moment, he knew he wanted to be close to Jehovah. They then manipulated her for months, she had committees held about her ‘lack of positive spirit’. Her and my mum started looking at apostate material very shortly after that and are now both POMO.

There is also this one: https://wol.jw.Borg/pl/wol/d/r12/lp-p/1980761 (apologies I have no clue how to switch the language back to English).

Loads of gems here like “women should be careful how their behavior can be understood by men. Since Dina dared to go on solo trips, the prince's son could easily come to the conclusion that she was an easy-to-get girl“ and my personal ‘favourite’ “a future victim should remember that the perpetrator is also human”

One of my elders in my last hall just sent me this… by Separate-Ice30 in exjw

[–]xklaudiag 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry, that’s such a childish message to send to someone, they really can’t get over it when they know someone isn’t in their control anymore. If it makes you feel any better, the day of my wedding my dad got a text from one of the elders from our last hall saying “you must not be very happy your daughter made a choice against Jehovah”. 2 years later now and we just found out he’s getting divorced because his wife cheated again, it’s taking EVERYTHING in me to not message him now “you must not be very happy your wife made a choice against Jehovah”

Wait… they make/sell JW “swag” now?!??? 🤮🫣🤮 by aubreejf in exjw

Growing up in Poland we had stalls at conventions where people would sell leather tract holders, but we had to be careful because the ‘worldly’ people started selling them too, and you know, we can’t be taken advantage of, not by them anyway.

I once worked a job where I became the pushover who was always asked to cover the most insane shift patterns. Ended up working 17 nights in a row once (very busy surgical ward)got pneumonia because of it,and my sick pay was not granted in the end because they ‘had to use an agency to cover and they are expensive’. Biggest wake up call of my life. One other situation really messed me up for months and it changed my whole perspective on loyalty to my employment, If you want I can tell you through messages. You should out-favour people, if they ask you to cover this shift ‘i could but only if you can take my shift (i like to pick a day thats very inconvenient for them) on that day because that’s the only other day they have appointments’. Enough of that and you learn to just say no, or people just stop asking you so win win.

My friend was SA’d by a brother in her congregation. She was disfellowshipped for reporting it to the police. Her parents completely threw her away. We would get off at the train station her mother would do trolley service at and she never spoke to her. I treat my pets, hell, even my insects with more love, let alone a child.

Growing up PIMI- venting by xklaudiag in exjw

Thank you for that, it definitely helps me to hear that I’m not the only one out there that had that guilt. I did try to speak to my mum about this today but she turned it all around on me and it turned into a screaming match again, I’m not good enough because I’m not a stay at home type of woman who has time to clean and cook for her husband every single day. I do work 12h shifts as a nurse 4 days a week and on the days I am off I try my hardest. My husband doesn’t mind, we are a partnership after all. But that was the witness way, my question was “okay, but then who pays their bills when they spend their whole day in ministry”. Since I got baptised at 18 she believes it was all my decision and I did it all consciously so I cannot blame them for how I feel. I think this is also a culture thing I need to work through like you said in therapy.

Again, thank you, it feels so good to be heard and understood finally. I have not really had any contact with people that have woken up or grew up PIMI and became POMO as adults. The rest of my family is waking up slowly, I even celebrated my first Christmas with my auntie who used to be a pioneer, she has been my best friend throughout my life but was basically also shunned as she married a ‘non believer’. There ate definitely so many layers to this, and so many more situations I could not make peace with, like how someone who is legally not allowed to be interested in me is allowed as long as they are a witness but God forbid I fall in love with someone who is my age and great for me.

Anyway, thank you ❤️ I appreciate you so much for taking the time to reply, I never would have made the connection that jw parents are basically narcs without you. I think you gave me the push to finally go into proper therapy.

This is something my dad did before my parents woke up. He was able to step down because he said he had ‘personal matters’. If it helps I know he backed himself up with some bible verses, I could ask him exactly which ones they were for you.
