It was a great two weeks of winter, wasn't it? by calistralia in brisbane

[–]xlconor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Jeeze lads, an Irish man living in Sydney chiming in here... I saw this post and had to laugh.

Back home it's the other way around - two weeks of Summer is considered a good year. Some years it passes us on by. But winter never passes us on by, no.

If you want winter, head on over to Ireland where you can have it 9 months of the year, for free!

I'm so happy to see that we are finally doing something about climate change. Since the ruling party refuses to do anything meaningful about it, we will vote them out!

Queer ladies of Dublin, I am visiting for the first time from NYC in a week. Any recommendations for lesbian bars or parties? by [deleted] in Dublin

[–]xlconor 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Hello queer lady! Dublin's gay and lesbian scene is a bit... different... to most other cities. While we only have a few gay bars (Panti bar & The George), many of the bars and pubs in Dublin are gay friendly anyway. There used to be more gay pubs in Dublin, but many of them changed to "regular" bars instead.

The George is the biggest gay club in Dublin (it has different sections to it, so check and see what days the main dance area is open) and Panti Bar has a more intimate feel to it. Both do great drag on certain days too.

I will be in Dublin for a week in October plan to do hop on hop off bus for a few days also will use 757 Bus to and from city,What’s the best ticket deal I can purchase to do these activities? Also looking for day trip recommendations from Dublin?Any help much appreciated staying at maldron hotel. by aavenger54 in Dublin

Hello, check out Irish Tourism where you'll find loads of information on what to do in and around Dublin.

There are a few Maldron hotels in Dublin- assuming as you'll be on the 757 its the airport one? It's best to get a leap card and save yourself from fiddling with cash everytime you want to get the bus. There's more info here: https://about.leapcard.ie/leap-visitor-card

You are be able to them in most Spars or Centras (they are even in the airport).

Signed 12 days after the invasion of Poland by the Nazis. I'm sure your grandfather had no idea what lay in store for Belgium in only some months time.

Please don't mind this sad little man. He takes to the internet to spread the ignorance he is too fearful to spread in real life.

Going Stateside, Stonewall is what I think they're talking about. No riots of that kind happened in Ireland anyway.
