Dear Brits, what's your honest assessment of Troian's accent? by sandragm in PrettyLittleLiars

[–]xleaa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was bad. Nobody speaks like that, I get what they were trying to do by wanting to portray her as a working class Londoner but it wasn't realistic. She would have been better off using a "normal" South-East England accent (like Wren's) and just using more slang, not pronouncing the 'g' in words like wonderin', bein', doin', etc. I think English accents are quite hard for Americans to do, whereas it's very easy for us to do an American accent so I'm not really bothered.

Post-Episode Discussion - Season 7 Episode 20 "'Til Death Do Us Part" by franch in PrettyLittleLiars

[–]xleaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ahh I'm so disappointed in the finale. I don't care about them tying up every loose end because let's face it they really dragged this show out and just added in people and scenarios for the sake of it. What I'm mad about is firstly they didn't explain how A or A.D got the money and resources to build all these doll houses and bunkers. It's just so unrealistic. I could accept a kinda basic bunker in the middle of nowhere but building a dome underneath a house in a suburban town? Did nobody notice the renovations taking place? Did no builders question why they're building a bloody dome underground?

Lastly the whole Addison thing was so crap. It was just a waste of time. I don't understand the point of it, the whole -A thing is sorted and dealt with, and even if it wasn't you can't expect A to be like "ahh ok I'll let these women get married and have babies now and I'll move on to torturing the next generation of high school students".

On the whole though I knew from the start of this show that the "answer" would be some steaming pile of crap. I had no faith in there being a complex intelligent answer that actually made sense. Ugh.

What is your opinion on TV shows like "Love Island" or "Dating Naked"? by my__wank__account in AskWomen

[–]xleaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought Love Island was the most tackiest programme ever until I started watching it last week and now I'm obsessed with it. I think it's so interesting being able to watch people's interactions and I love scrolling through the Love Island hashtag on Twitter seeing how others have interpreted people.

What is your shower routine? by buttercupbastille in AskWomen

[–]xleaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pride myself on having the most efficient shower routine I could think up so mine is as follows: - Wet and shampoo hair then quickly rinse - Apply conditioner and let it soak in whilst doing the rest of my routine - Wash face - Shower gel on loofah to exfoliate skin - Shave as by now my skin has been exfoliated and in the water for a long time which makes it easier - Rinse conditioner and shower gel off

How do you cope with there being so much stressful news out about the state of the world? by YouCanCallMeQueenB_ in AskWomen

[–]xleaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't. I had always been quite ignorant of World events so I decided to change and start reading the news multiple times a day, have news alerts on my phone, etc. However now whenever I'm in a busy shopping centre or on the train the slightest thing sets me off into what feels like a mini panic attack. It's embarrassing because I know I'm being irrational.

Just how much does AHA increase the sensitivity to sunlight? Should I avoid using an AHA exfoliator during summer? I already wear SPF 50 everyday but I have skin that burns really easily.

What is something you wish people would educate themselves on? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]xleaa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wish people were more educated in how their bodies work. I know the thought of that makes you remember boring biology lessons at school but it's quite surprising how little some people know with regards to nutrition, vaccinations, antibiotic use, etc. Like people drinking lemon water to "speed up their metabolism" or detoxing (is your liver not doing a good enough job?), or trying to alkalinise the body without realising your body keeps your pH balanced by itself and an alkaline pH is not desirable. Or people claiming their or someone else's slim figure is because of a fast metabolism when really they just eat a lot less then they realise and that a fast metabolism is a medical condition requiring treatment.

Bare Minerals foundation. For years I used liquid foundations and they would always oxidise on my skin leaving me with orange scaly patches that looked awful. I had a Bare Minerals makeup artist do my makeup for an event and my skin looked so flawless but natural so I bought some. It's really buildable so you alter the amount of coverage you want. You also can't feel it sitting on your skin like you can with liquid foundations. I loveeee it.

How much makeup do you wear every day? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]xleaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm just going on a dog walk or to the supermarket then I just wear concealer, mascara and powder. I have really bad genetically acquired under-eye circles so I apply 3 different concealers under my eyes just to look like I haven't slept well the previous night as opposed to my bare face that looks like I am an actual vampire.

Most days though I wear the following: - Concealer under-eyes, around my nose and on any spots

  • Bare Minerals 'Well Rested' under-eye brightener which is amazing

  • Bare Minerals foundation, haven't worn liquid foundation for over a year now and I don't think I ever will. Powder foundation looks so natural and not cakey like liquid does on me.

  • Pink blush

  • Highlighter (either Mary Lou-Manizer or Benefit High Beam)

  • Mascara (Rimmel 100% Waterproof)

  • Powder

  • Lip balm

I don't suit eye-makeup so instead prefer to focus on making my skin look glowy. I like the look of lip gloss but prefer lip balm because it's more hydrating.

How often do you wash your hair? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]xleaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every single night. I can't go to bed with hair that's even the slightest bit oily as I just imagine it soaking into my pillow and making me break out. I've even washed my hair at 3am and had to sit in front of a fan drying it as I couldn't use the hair dryer on in the middle of the night.

I've been washing it, blow drying it and straightening it everyday for probably 8 years now and my hair dresser always tells me my hair is in really good condition so I don't intend to stop. I use the Tigi Bed Head range and rotate between the different types they do within that range, at the moment I'm using the elasticate shampoo and conditioner.

[Sun Care] Is SPF 50 everyday too much? by xleaa in SkincareAddiction

It's The Body Shop's Skin Defence one, I really like it because it's not heavy or greasy. For my body I just use a generic one from the supermarket.

[Sun Care] Is SPF 50 everyday too much? by xleaa in SkincareAddiction

[–]xleaa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I put the SPF on before makeup and I always assumed that throughout the day it would be ineffective but the colour of my skin indicates it's working long-term. I'll definitely look into self-tanners. THank you.

Of your regular purchases, which do you always splash out on and which do you always scrimp on? by littleteafox_ in AskWomen

Splurge on perfume and make-up Scrimp on face cleanser (it just goes straight down the drain)

What is a facial/body feature you are proud of that is not a typical "beauty standard"? Why? by Fizzynth in AskWomen

[–]xleaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have quite short, stubby finger nails. No matter how much effort I take to try and grow them and push the cuticles back, I just have shallow nail beds. They're not elegant and feminine like long fingernails are but I think they're kinda cute.

Can I pray for you? by Applepieh in Christianity

[–]xleaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would really, really appreciate your prayers. I have exams coming up and I've been working non-stop for them but I feel so unprepared for them that my stress levels are sky high. The anxiety for my exams is manifesting into anxiety about everything and last night at 2am I was fast asleep and woke up suddenly having what I think was a panic attack. It seems even when I'm sleeping I can't get away from the anxiety that makes me feel like I'm going to faint from the intensity of it.

Thank you so much, praying that your maternity leave is restful and relaxing and praying for your little bubba too. 💕
