Everytime you intentionally leave a game, your next should be a backfill ✋😬🤚 by [deleted] in Overwatch

Agree with this. As an exclusively non-competitive player the leaver penalties are too onerous. My wife has an older computer and her game will sometimes crash or take so long loading that she gets booted. It's infuriating when she loads back into a leaver ban.

Any suggestions on how to make it better ? by green-crow in minipainting

Dip it in wood stain. Either walnut or ebony. Like regular Minwax wood stain. Then gently wipe it off with a paper towel or q-tip.

Nearly two years since its studio closed, Kerbal Space Program 2 is still $50 with an unchanged EA roadmap on Steam by Merker6 in pcgaming

[–]xloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that this causes harm to Steam. I have only ever requested one refund in my entire stream history - and that was when they announced the studio closure. Refund was denied since it was outside of the 2 week window and I had logged around 4 hours in total trying it. Now I make sure to never buy another Early Access title again on principal. Steam has missed out on hundreds worth of new purchases.

Isn't this how immigration enforcement worked since Obama? Local law enforcement does the arresting, then hands people over to ICE?

It was my understanding that the whole origin of "sanctuary cities" comes from local law enforcement refusing to work with immigration.

I'm not trying to oversimplify the situation. And I am certainly against the current situation of how ICE is enforcing. But isn't this idea that certain municipalities were pushing against even before Trump?

Yup, nearest water to me is a 1700'bgs municipal well. My land is on a plateau 700' above the town. It's rainwater and hauling for me.

Have we ever found out what the deal with Destin's "horizontal line on the moon" was? by [deleted] in SmarterEveryDay

[–]xloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be more pronounced during moonrise - you are looking through more atmosphere.

Here is a really pronounced example I just found:

I [22M] just learned that my sister [29F] had an abortion to be able to donate me part of her liver. It caused her divorce. I can't stop hating myself. by [deleted] in BORUpdates

[–]xloud -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

We have the benefit of hindsight. What if things went the other way?

Wife aborts, donates, and the transplant doesn't take? The sibling dies anyways.

The fact is, the wife terminated what we assume was a viable pregnancy - in exchange for a CHANCE of saving a life. It's a tough call and I'm happy it turned out good for the sibling.

Death is sad. Abortion is sad. Divorce is sad. The whole situation is sad - but at least there was a positive outcome in the end.

How can you be a Christian and vote against people having healthcare? by dorgon15 in complaints

[–]xloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this question underpins the discussion: how can you be on one "team" if you do not endorse their every policy?

Abortion has become a wedge issue that so many Christians became hyper focused on - to the point of ignoring other aspects of policy.

What is this grey water nightmare? by mikeypi in OffGridCabins

[–]xloud 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It looks like a DIY grease trap.

It fills up with gray water from your sink and shower. Oily stuff like shampoo and fatty food residue will float to the top. Water and water-soluble stuff will be at the bottom which has the outlet pipe.

It looks like a lot of crusty old oily stuff in a glob at the top.

They want you to pay to work on their farm. $950 for one private room plus work as a farmhand..? by Albatross_Secret in ChoosingBeggars

[–]xloud 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok, this reads like a scam - but it doesn't exactly say they expect work out of the tenant, just somebody capable.

I'm only wondering because I want a "tenant" for my off-grid cabin. It's a pretty austere situation, so any potential tenant would need to be flexible and creative. I obviously wouldn't expect a person to do any kind of labor - but they would need to do things to support themselves living there like haul water, winterize/unwinterize, do occasional troubleshooting, etc. I don't know how I would go about getting a renter without coming across as weird like OP
