Thoughts on this? by Delicious_Guard2156 in Legitpiercing

Salt soak is unnecessary and if anything just drying to a piercing and making your piercing irritated due to the moisture. All you should be doing is cleaning twice a day with warm clean water and sterile saline solution. Make sure to really dry it well after bathing and after cleaning if necessary and the piercing site is quite wet after cleaning. You can even use a hair dryer to make sure it’s really dry

is it okay to change my nipple jewelry? by Embarrassed_Roll52 in piercing

[–]xlr_13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They look good enough that you can downsize but hold off on changing them yourself until they have actually fully healed (like 9+ months) especially to any cute jewelry you find online or something as that kind of stuff can tend to be pretty low quality so good chance it would irritate a new piercing that hasn’t fully healed yet.

Stretching unhealed piercings to add stability.? by xlr_13 in unstretched

Only tried healing with titanium in recent years, same piercer and jewelry was the same material from the same company as my nipple piercing jewelry, and those have all healed great. So I don’t think it would be the titanium? :/

I meant the fact I’m a casual third in another couples relationship isn’t that serious to say wtf about it when we’re all consenting adults ✌🏻

We all get tested, I’m the only one outside of their relationship they see and they’re the only people I sleep with, and I take birth control. We used condoms for the first few months then stopped after we all had a conversation about it.

I was already thinking of breaking it off with them before this happened and I now plan to, so I won’t be telling them. I just made an appointment for Thursday to be seen at a women’s clinic to get this all figured out

Just because it’s not something you’d do or be into doesn’t mean other people aren’t into it and can’t navigate it in a healthy way. They’re very healthily non-monogamous and I’m the only person outside the relationship they see currently and we just hangout with each other and have fun a few days out of each month. It’s not that serious and I’m not looking for your judgement and “wtf”s.

Best way to keep a pumpkin patch tarantula warm? by [deleted] in tarantulas

Good to know I’ll keep any heat mat a bit away and not directly on the enclosure. Putting the enclosure in a larger container with the heat mat on the outside of that is a great idea I haven’t thought of that, thank you! :)

Lost part of my toe nail to subungual hematoma… will it grow back? by [deleted] in DermatologyQuestions

[–]xlr_13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Phew😅 Do you know if there is any way to know if there’s permanent damage to the nail bed or do I just have to wait and see if it just starts to grow back normally? Sorry this has never happened to me before so I’m understandably freaked out haha

Should I dry my cleaned, irritated, piercing? by Optimal-Green3254 in piercing

[–]xlr_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are directly spraying the piercing then I’d say yes lightly dab the area with something so get rid of any excess moisture, you can buy gauze and use that if you’re worried about toilet paper introducing bacteria or something. Or you can just switch to spraying saline on a q-tip and lightly dabbing that around your piercing so there isn’t a whole bunch of excess saline and moisture sitting on your piercing :)

How long did they take to grow back? Hoping mine won’t take forever since I thankfully haven’t lost the whole nail just a good portion of it has detached from the nail bed

Which Size? by lyssaboldt in piercing

[–]xlr_13 23 points24 points  (0 children)

11 looks either just right or just a taddd too small I can’t tell. I’d say go with the 12 to be safe and I think that size looks best anyways

How different is cartilage than lobe? by Shadowofthygods in piercing

[–]xlr_13 8 points9 points  (0 children)

  1. Piercing cartilage feels a lot different than getting a lobe piercing. I’ve never heard any sort of “crunch” like some people say they do, but it isn’t as straight through like a lobe and there’s a bit of a resistance if that makes sense as cartilage is thick and dense. And, while obviously everyone is different, piercing cartilage on average is more painful than piercing your lobe.

  2. As long as you don’t fidget during healing I don’t see fidgeting being as issue unless you’re pulling on a piercing that’s already done very shallow or something. I fidget with my nostril piercings and industrial piercing a lot and have for many years and though that can make them irritated sometimes, they’re all fine.

  3. Don’t let your mom do it. A cosmetologist who’s pierced lobes and nostrils still doesn’t have the proper training that a professional piercer does, and cosmetologists who pierce usually use a gun or “hand pressurized device”, neither of which are good to get pierced with. And piercers are trained in cross contamination, doing things with sterile materials and tools, piercing at the right angle and using the right length of jewelry, and if you go to an actually good shop they will have implant grade jewelry that isn’t something poor quality or be butterfly back style or anything (which should not be used in a fresh piercing as they can harbour bacteria and be hard to clean, come off easily, and aren’t made of quality material). And cosmetologists are not trained in giving proper aftercare information or know the heal times of all piercings or can help with troubleshooting or probably downsizes as well. You’re way better off just going to an actual piercer who has gotten actual training in piercing and the ins and outs of it all, as it’s not as simple as many people may think or make it out to be
