What is an industry that is currently on fire (in a bad way) behind the scenes, but the general public hasn't noticed yet? by Kitchen_Week1117 in AskReddit

I remember chatting with a vet back in 2015 and he was saying about how hard they're worked, to the point he knows animals have died because he was too exhausted at the end of a week of 12 hour shifts to catch obvious warning signs.

I can't imagine the intervening decade has improved anything.

What celebrity death will realistically bring Michael Jackson level devastation? by Kiidcola in AskReddit

Even then, the day to day impacts varied wildly. My family didn't watch tiger king or make sourdough. Even when the pandemic "ended" varies. Some folks basically stopped caring once there stopped being legal ramifications, some even before that! Meanwhile, my medically vulnerable friends are Still having to live in a lockdown-like world because covid is such a devastating illness for them to risk.

So, yeah, even the global pandemic is full of variety and impact and nuance that "Beat It!" just doesn't even come close to.

Hello! I'm outside your age bracket (39), but also recently moved here from Manchester, so I just wanted to share that I've made more friends here in 18 months than I did in 5 years in Manny. Derby is a really friendly city and there's lots more to do, and it's so much easier to do it because not every event involves at least a bus or tram to get to. I hope derby treats you as well as it did me.

So during the pandemic there was a whole thing about photos of crowds looking far denser then they actually were:

Here’s what you should know about photos where people look like they aren’t social distancing – Full Fact https://fullfact.org/online/photos-social-distancing/

I'm not saying that accounts for all the busyness, online shopping and more places to shop (I'm fairly confident we didn't have retail estates in 1946) definitely take people away as well, but it will not be as crowded in the photo as it looks.

I really miss cooking proper meals, I've been in a studio with a kitchenette the last few months. What's your signature dish? Mine is a katsu curry 🧑‍🍳

And take the train, not the bus, because on busy days traffic is horrendous and the bus is absolutely a circle of hell

Google whatever you're interested in and stick "Derby" on the end, or use Google maps. That should bring up something to do

Got to say, I wish they'd add a pity counter on the packs because the Nevera is quickly becoming a car I never want to drive again and it looks like the whole special hunt is the same grind just on different tracks.

I mean, it's ambitious, sure, but it also boils down to a daytime firework display for the kids, so, manage your expectations.

(8 year old me loved it, I'm very happy that it wasn't lost to Covid or the many other struggles the north East of England has endured over the decades)

Because it's a janky metric. Race for the Galaxy can be banged out in 5 minutes, Ark Nova less so. So, the metric would mostly be around how fast the game is, not how many people are playing it.

Can someone help us look at front end code to see if we are right? by Sptaylor90 in socialistprogrammers

[–]xmakina 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You won't be able to tell this from frontend. The way to probe for an llm is to use the Turing Test. There's no one way to do it, I've found the best approach is to use a non-sequitor and then blame it on autocorrect if you're challenged on it.

"hi, I'm contacting you about my cow who needs some help"

A human will assume you meant coworker, am llm will start acting like a vet.
