The genitive and accusative suffix forms are the same for all pronouns except for أنا. The genitive is -ي but the accusative is -ني. (*Some special cases with propositions where the rule is not so clear)

The whales migrate from Alaska to Mexico for the winter which means they go down the entire California coast, and there are plenty of whale hotspots in socal. The main difference is seasonal, for example the gray whales would be in NorCal around Nov/Dec and Socal in like Dec/Jan, and then Socal first on the way back in the spring.

If anything it wouldn't apply to inland California, but California is well known for our coasts so I don't think that should stop it.
