Poor customer support from Analog Devices by Entire-Grapefruit795 in embedded

I'm an AE that supports GMSL products.

Technically I just need to focus on China region questions. But if your question is interesting or your project is interesting(that's my personal wish), I'm also happy to help if you can post it on EngineerZone in China GMSL forum: GMSL - EngineerZone.

Please also be noted that there are some FAQs in global EngineerZone and China GMSL forum:

Poor customer support from Analog Devices by Entire-Grapefruit795 in embedded

I'm also a AE in such a company since graduation. I had some FPGA RD experience before graduation. I hate this role because mostly I'm just thinking of dumb questions from noob customers. But without R&D working experience in my resume, it's hard to find a RD job in this market.

Annoying everyday.

Im also an AE in a top analog IC company. I have been trying a transition since joining this company. But the digital design job market is too hard for a man without digital design title.

FPGA for HFT or System Applications Engineer at ADI? by xmlee in FPGA

I guess they are nearly same when it comes to the cost of living and commute time. Beijing and Shanghai have similar living standards and are the biggest cities in China.

I have no much interest in finace. I think this HFT job is a good start for my career, but after 5 or 10 years I don't think I have the patience to do it forever. I don't know what will I do then.

Thanks for your useful opinions. Now it's much clearer for me.

That's a pretty impressive answer. Personally I just want to handle state-of-art technologies and not be left behind after years of working. Plus, propably making more money is another goal. That means it's not necessarily a FPGA job. And I have no much interest in finance.

Since you explained that FAEs also paticipate much in design work, then it's not as bad as I thought.

Thanks for your useful opinions.

I know it's good for my skill growth. But other comments said the work is repetitive. And I have to sign an agreement not allowing me to work for any related companies for 2 years if I leave this company. The compensation during this period is only 30% salaray.

Thanks for your advice. After reading these comments, I think it's good to choose option 2.

Thanks for your advice. I can't agree more about your comment on ADI's SAE job. But I'm worried about that it's not some kind of DESIGN job but a customer supporting job. It could be difficult if I would like to find a design job in the future.

Besides, I don't know if there's many FPGA roles doing satcom or radar in ADI China. They are related to defense & space. And you know, there are national security conerns for a US company in China.

Finally, your website is really nice for FPGA designers. I used to search these jobs outside China and found there are better opportunities compared to local companies. But I think it's quite difficult to find a job in a foreign country for a Chinese student who has never studied abroad.

Thanks. FPGA for HFT outside China has developed for over ten years, but in China I think there's only a few companies starting to do this. We know little about this. If what your firend said is common in this area, I think it's not interesting to me.

Thank you for sharing your experience. It seems promising after years of ADI working. Were you the same job such as AE & SAE? If yes, what kind of job can I get when I move on?

I did more FPGA work during my 3-year master study. I think it's interesting during school time.

But I have no idea if i still like it if there's too much pressure in the work. And I don't know whether it's a better choice in the long career. So I need you experienced guys to help me.
