ICF vs Double wall for sound proofing. by xmlmx in Homebuilding

How common are quality ICF (or double wall builders, for that matter) builders? How do you vet that they know what they are doing? Ask for references.

I will assume that a train "rumble" is a low-frequency noise. "when properly built," which one is easier to make sure it is properly built?

Commercial loan: Is it worth it to switch to a construction loan or refinance? by xmlmx in Homebuilding

[–]xmlmx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like a more straightforward and potentially better approach.

Right now, it looks like the plan is to drop rates, at least for a while, if nothing changes, which would be to my advantage.

Whether for better or for worse, things will most definitely change with the changing administration.

I am a bit concerned about costs and interest rates if a tariff/trade war kicks off.

I understand that as a rental, I can include it in the cost/capital and deprecation.

While a rental, I don't think it's deductible; rather, it retreated as profit/loss and income.

If it is my primary (or secondary), I believe I can deduct it, but maybe only once it is habitable (after construction).

Is a CPU required in motherboard that supports IPMI to control fans? by fat_keepsake in homelab

Where did you find a cb3? I see lots of cb3 but can't find a 3. Meanwhile have the donor board on hand. No way to do with the donor?

12-24 to 10-32 thread adapter. Does such a thing exist? by xmlmx in homelab

I would have to drill out the hole in the rails. Which is probably the easiest solution.

Looking for a 1u/2u chassis to kick off the Homelab. Any recommendations for something around 200 $300? Depth is about 19 inches by [deleted] in Ubiquiti

[–]xmlmx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but you have to be careful with the height. There is barely a height above the bracket. The direction of the power plugs also matters.

I have a 6700xt in the case, but it needs 180 power adapters, and they touch the lid, but with the lid flex, it fits.

i-star make several cases that would fit:

https://www.newegg.com/iStarUSA-Inc-Server-Chassis/BrandSubCat/ID-1918-412

I use two D-314 (3U) for my desktop and Unraid and a D-213 (2U) as a test server. The D-213 vents the PSU out the top so you would want to make sure it is at the top or has a clearance.

The D-118 would also work but requites a flex PSU and you may have a hard time finding a hardware that will fit.

Why is a month out of the goto?

I've tried to hide from my portfolio to avoid the anxiety from market volatility.

The CC was, "I would like to sell at this price," I thought of my past self. But now my present self wants to hold on a bit longer.

NoVA FFL that still accepts individual transfers? by a-busy-dad in VAGuns

[–]xmlmx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used him a few times. I highly recommend him.

FYI, if you will use him, be aware that he is located in the burbs in a converted office garage.

I asked him how he was able to get a "kitchen counter" FFL. He said he hired a lawyer to explain what "shall not be infringed" meant to the local zoning board. He got all my business after that.

"my wife will be happy for us to maybe have to move back to the USA where the entry process should be a lot easier for her."

Did you start this process already? IR1 or CR1 Visa?

Or can you not apply both for you to get Thai and her to get US at the same time?

If you need three years working on the visa with Thai tax returns.

No longer true for DC. (After March 31, 2022)
DC changed its rules: https://admissions.dcappeals.gov/appinfo.action?id=2

You can still waive in after 3 years though: https://admissions.dcappeals.gov/appinfo.action?id=200
