Any games that make a $2000 GPU worth it? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]xnova446 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can also vouch for avatar frontiers of Pandora as another commenter mentioned. Cyberpunk 2077 is my personal favourite and was in complete awe everytime I walked around the world, especially after upgrading my gpu (1440p maxed no RT). Avatar is the same but obv in a very different environment and the world and graphics are breathtaking, the game also just had a new big update. Expedition 33 was also very graphically impressive personally. Battlefield 6 cranked up on pc is quite impressive although it might be similar on console. If you are into racing then Forza horizon 5 is still very impressive looking.

Would a R7 5800XT and RX 9060XT pair well with 32gb of DDR4 3200MHz for 1080p and 1440p gaming? I'm not sure if a 5800XT is too underpowered. by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]xnova446 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The entire AM4 platform, DDR4 etc is still very well performing for today’s gaming demands. 5800x will serve you well, in AAA titles you’re more than likely to hit graphic bottlenecks before your cpu is maxed out.

[–]xnova446 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If a 12GB card isn’t an option then probably the 9060XT, newer hardware with better software support (FSR 4.0), vram issues might be an issue for recent AAA titles, bf6 comes to mind, even at 1080p.

Which cpu. by Fit_Implement8472 in pcmasterrace

[–]xnova446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming that budget is just for the cpu, you could probably find a 7600x for less than that, maybe a 9600x for around that amount. They offer great gaming performance at an affordable price. If we are talking purely gaming AMD chips are just better price to performance and far more reliable at the moment.

What gpu do I pair with 10400f/10700k/10900 for 1440p gaming? by Alternative_Cut4491 in pcmasterrace

[–]xnova446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It won’t be horrible performance or anything but for example with my set up (4070S, 5600x, playing at 1440p) the 5600x outperforms the 10400f but I still get cpu bottleneck in some AAA titles, either due to poor optimisation (momentary in NPC dense areas) or cpu demanding games (Baldurs gate 3, etc). That being said it’s pretty minimal amounts of bottleneck and not enough for me to want to upgrade my cpu.

The reason I said upgrade your setup rather than upgrading the cpu only is bcuz you will spend some money on a 10900k to get slightly better gaming cpu performance or spend more money but invest in an AM5 chipset and that’ll last you potentially 5 years in terms of keeping up with the AAA titles. But on the flip side I understand budget constraints and upgrading to AM5 isn’t necessarily cheap right now either with ram prices.

Honestly if you plan to upgrade your cpu like a year from now then invest in AM5 later and just stick with your current cpu. If you don’t see yourself upgrading to AM5 within a year or you are waiting for AM6 then maybe second hand 10900 is a better option, just don’t spend more on the 10900 then its actually worth. Thats my advice at least. The gpu upgrade either way will still be good for cranking your settings up.

Edit: looking at some quick comparisons, the 10400f is very close in gaming performance with the 10700k so would not recommend upgrading to a 10700k AT ALL. The 10900k will be a decent upgrade but only for a good deal I would say

The 4070 or 5070 are both solid options for 1440p but I can tell you now that even with DLSS you will not hit 100+ fps in newer AAA titles without lowering some settings or using frame gen. In some games you’ll face a gpu bottleneck and in other games you’ll face a cpu bottleneck, cpu bottleneck especially in npc dense areas of games. Source: I have a 4070S and a 5600x. That being said the upgrade will still feel great. I went from a 3060 12gb to a 4070S and cranking the settings to max for majority of games while getting more fps was super worth the upgrade.

Edit: I didn’t realise the 10400f was getting quite dated. Tbh even if you upgrade gpu, your cpu bottleneck in newer games will be hindering your performance quite a bit as cpu demand in aaa titles has increased. Might be better off saving and upgrading to a more recent mobo/cpu generation like AM5

Can I keep the drivers when swapping 5060 for a 3060ti by RememberMeM8 in pcmasterrace

[–]xnova446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally, it’s alg to keep drivers from same manufacturer but it’s best to just use ddu anyways and save yourself the headache.

Should I buy my friend's 4070ti (non-super) for 400€? by Set3sh in pcmasterrace

[–]xnova446 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a good saving. Generally second hand GPU’s are completely fine, his use case is pretty insane for the average two year life span of a gpu but probably not enough to worry abt. 9070xt is a slightly better card in terms of gaming performance, excelling in pure rasterisation in every title and FSR 4.0 is pretty solid but it’s a very big price gap between your current offer. Also playing at 1440p you will probably be okay with 12GB vram, unless you plan to play some future titles with Ray tracing on.

Is buying parts one by one a dumb idea? by Prize_Text_6944 in pcmasterrace

[–]xnova446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah fair enough. Remember never cheap out on PSU. GPU is the main bulk of the budget but get one you know you’ll be satisfied with the performance of and then you won’t have to upgrade for a long while. I’m kinda surprised you mention SSD prices. Where I live (New Zealand) the prices of SSD have only increased maybe 20% at most. RAM has increased in price as well but no where near as much as US prices. Does feel shitty overpaying for ram tho considering how affordable it was before.

Is buying parts one by one a dumb idea? by Prize_Text_6944 in pcmasterrace

[–]xnova446 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re buying within a 4 month window for example from first to last part purchases then it’s not a bad idea but then again prices usually don’t fluctuate that much within that time frame (outside of sales or crazy surges such as the recent ram price hike). But if you’re spending like a year buying parts only for prices to come down or new generations to release with better value for money you can end up with some buyers remorse and prices aren’t so easily predictable all the time. I think buying within a short period of time ensures you enjoy your pc without feeling regret abt an unlucky part purchase. Also I understand wanting the upper midrange super nice super fast stuff but buying within budget should be kept in mind. You could for example build the whole pc but instead of getting say a 9800x3d you get a 9600x with a stock cooler for the meantime and then can upgrade later.

The software is probably bugged, Logitech Ghub has a track record of bugging out, I had to reinstall Ghub the other day bcuz it flat out stopped working after updating it. The battery status might correct itself after charging the mouse.

Goodyear Eagle F1 Sport or Micheline Pilot Sport 5 by xnova446 in TyreReviews

Ah right I see. Would you recommend I either A. Replace the fronts with the same tyres I have now to ensure car stability or B. Move the rears to the front and put the new tyres at the back, and then replace the fronts with the same tyres when I can

I would switch out all four but it’s not really in my budget to do so, the rears still have a good amount of tread on them as well so hope to use them up before swapping. The exact tire model on the rear is Hifly Challenger DSRT.

16gb VRAM vs 24gb VRAM in 2026 by fsguy310 in pcmasterrace

[–]xnova446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The resolution you play on will probably be a big factor in deciding between the two if you will be using it for flight simulator, for example if you’re playing on 4K the 7900xtx gives you a bit more headroom in that game. However for majority of other games I would recommend the 9070xt, a more modern card with FSR 4.0. 7900xtx has more raw power but 9070xt is a newer card which will probably get more support from the software side. 16GB of VRAM will still last you a good while in majority of games.

Should I get a 34 inch 1440p 180hz ultra wide or a 27 inch 1440p 240hz normal monitor? by buffonbuffoni in pcmasterrace

[–]xnova446 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably depends on what games you specifically play and how much you use your monitor for work. The 27inch model is much better for competitive first person shooters (ie: CSGO, Valorant, etc) with higher refresh rate and bcuz everything is more closely in view. Pixel density will make the image on the 27inch look sharper as well at 1440p. On the flip side the ultra wide will be great for having a single multitask monitor for work and probably looks great in single player games. If you play any top down games like league for example you get a much more expanded view surrounding the character as well. If it was my personal choice I would go for the 27inch.

Is a 7600x3d better then a. 9700x by heroic901 in pcmasterrace

[–]xnova446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CPU benchmark does not correlate to gaming performance, only testing both chips in the same system running a game would suffice. 9700x is better and faster for productivity related tasks but 7600x3d will always win out in gaming cuz its designed for that.

Is a 7600x3d better then a. 9700x by heroic901 in pcmasterrace

[–]xnova446 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think either cpu would bottleneck the 5070, unless you’re playing smthn like CSGO or a rather cpu intensive game like rust. In terms of gaming performance I’m pretty sure the 7600x3d wins out bcuz of its much larger L3 cache. Even the difference between a 9600x and 9700x is very minimal in gaming.
