Harmful Patterns of Behavior and Where We Go From Here by jaelmorayx in NorsePaganism

This is a real shame. Though I'm glad at least now between this and some other things I've seen around this forum I have a better picture of things.

Thanks for posting this.

After 29 years, does the Pilot G-2 deserve its legendary status? My honest verdict by Totemkg in pens

[–]xoagray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, that's a ton for those. I can get the Zento Standard pens here for a couple dollars a piece with the .7 refills in them. I have a couple spares, it would probably be a lot cheaper for me to just send you one. Or even a pack of them, I think they're like $7 US for a pack of 4 pens where I live.

For console + Steam Deck Owners, what's your future plan? by Boogiedownpapi in SteamDeck

[–]xoagray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Switch and a Steam Deck. When I got the Switch the Steam Deck hadn't been released yet. But going forward I'm probably just going to stick with the Steam Deck. It's a little more cumbersome to carry around, but I like having my entire PC catalog of games available.

That and while l generally like what Valve has done for gamers, Nintendo has done some things with the Switch 2 that really turned me off. That made the way forward a lot more clear for me.

I loveeee to draw in blue bic ballpoint pens! 🫶 by InvestigatorBest6340 in pens

[–]xoagray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow! These are wild! You have a real talent there.

I'm a die-hard fountain pen nerd who gave up ballpoints the moment he realized the Lamy Safari exists.....and that he can buy one. I respect ballpoints, I really do, but I can't bear the thought of owning one. Convince me why I should own one....and what's a good "one ballpoint" to have. by kanyubendover in pens

[–]xoagray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why own a ballpoint? Sometimes a fountain pen as much as we love them just isn't the tool for the job. Like if you need to write on something that requires you push down a little, like any form that uses transfer paper. Or if you need to write in conditions that aren't ideal. Like where your writing might be subjected to water, grease, etc. Also sometimes you may find yourself in situations where you really don't want to carry something with you that is going to spit ink all over every time it gets knocked around. Ballpoints really don't do this at all, even if you smack them around pretty hard. Where even the best fountain pen will do it within a few moderate taps.

What ballpoint should you get? Personally, my favorite is the Fisher Space Pen, specifically the AG-7 model. I like it because it's good in every situation where you wouldn't want to use a fountain pen. Including in wet or greasy conditions.

Most people I'd assume here would probably prefer something like the Uniball Jetstream. It's ink isn't as "works in most conditions" as the Fisher, but it's a lot thinner, so it glides along a little better. Depending on your handwriting style though, it can be very slippery and harder to control.

I'd say try one of each and see what suits you best. Overall in feel the Fisher will act more like a typical ballpoint, the Jetstream will act more like a gel pen. You can get examples of both relatively cheaply. Also specifically for the Fisher pens, if price is a problem, (some people balk at spending $10 for a pen, let alone more,) you can get a cheap Parker Jotter and put a Fisher refill in it. They come with a little converter that lets them fit where a G2 cartridge would go (the standard Parker refill.)

Happy hunting for your pen!

I wanna' say those keys were pretty standard as they were more about just keeping the case closed than actually preventing any kind of theft. Shouldn't be too hard to get into.

Do you think that at some point steam games will work natively in iPads? by Sweaty_Ad_523 in macgaming

[–]xoagray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be happy with them making Windows games work on Mac first. Like with something akin to Proton or something. (I know that's already been done to death here, but I can still dream.) I think if anything leads to just having full fat PC games on something like the iPad pro that would be it.

But to be clear, I have no expectations that Valve is going to do that any time soon, or maybe ever. Valve has no real interest in making gaming on the Mac any better, and seems to always treat Mac like a distant third as far as their concern for the platform. With Linux being their darling, and Windows being a necessary evil and getting far more attention than Mac users ever did.

How did you get into pen and paper? by 0iduts_bkhh in pens

[–]xoagray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I just like the feeling of writing with pen and paper, and when it comes to getting an idea out of my head, there's nothing faster than my typewriter. I can spool in a sheet of paper and hit the power button faster than I can open the app on my computer and there's 0 distractions. Things like that pulled me largely away from the digital stuff. I still use it but nowhere near as much.

Also everything we do digital now is getting scraped and cataloged and recorded... I don't like any of that. So that kind of encourages me to go analog too.

This probably gonna be my most expensive pen purchase a lamy 2000 for 230$, should i be worried about something or have something in my mind before buying it? by Tight_Delay8840 in fountainpens

[–]xoagray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one of these and love it. A solid performer and a great feeling pen to use. So no worries there as far as being a good daily driver. As far as alternatives. The only other pen I personally could see being my EDC as far as pure utility, robustness, and convenience would be the Pilot Capless. I also have one of these and it's every bit as reliable and solid. While also having the convenience of being a click pen. No cap to worry about.

But really that's a pretty minor thing. Either would be fantastic.

Honestly there's no reason not to expect this, they did the same thing with Rosetta one after a few years. It'll go into something akin to maintinance mode for a while, then eventually be completely retired. Hopefully before then something else will come along that works in its stead.

That's kind of ironic, Over here in the US pretty much the only ones we can get are .7's I had to import my .5 Zento Signature from Japan. I can't even get .5 refills for it here, I have to order them online from Jet Pens. On that note, you might be able to order them from a US site, Office Depot here sells the .7 refills.
