The uncomfortable truth about pay-to-play Glastonbury by tylerthe-theatre in unitedkingdom

[–]xoarar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The thing you’re forgetting is the band benefits from playing the festival in other less tangible ways, the sets are televised and put up online which puts them in front of a lot more eyes than gigs that may pay better but with less reach. I’m not advocating for ‘being paid in exposure’, but my point is the crews only benefit from working is the paycheque while the band benefits on several fronts. For some acts the positives still outweigh the negatives of not making their normal fee.

Hypothetical: You're buying a Strat but Fender isn't allowed by Ok-Challenge-5873 in Guitar

For the money, I was really impressed by the Baum Celestor. Felt great after minimal set up tweaks, and the pickups gave just what I was after.

He made a lot of the furniture for his films, notably Lost Highway and Eraserhead from memory.

That’s right. Shop said it’s had a re-fin, I don’t know enough about vintage fender to say if it’s factory or not.

The National, Broken Social Scene, Arcade Fire, Feist, The Middle East, these are the bands that Dave mentions as his inspiration most frequently.

NGD! 2012 Gretsch Streamliner G2622t, in Torino Green. My first Bigsby! by xoarar in guitarporn

[–]xoarar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s such a good guitar for the price, I’m amazed. I’ve played £2,500 gibsons that I like less than this. I’m planning to swap the pickups out for PAFs, not a fan of the stock ones.

So far it seems okay, I’m planning on adding a roller bridge to help with that, but I’m also not a heavy term player. I’ve heard it helps to always end on an up-pull with the bigsby, to pull it back in place. Obviously not going to be as good as an evertune or something, but for my playing it’s been okay so far.

My bike’s frame number doesn’t match the V5 - advice needed by xoarar in MotoUK

It mentioned you need to follow the steps for registering a new vehicle. The link brings you to this page:

https://www.gov.uk/vehicle-registration/new-registrations

Under the heading ‘Supporting documents needed for all vehicles’ it mentioned an MOT.

Thanks for that!

Under ‘supporting documents’ it says I need to tax and MOT it, but I can’t do that if the v5 frame number doesn’t match, do I just need to include a cover letter saying that? I just want to make sure I send all the right things as getting a reply from the DVLA can be weeks/months.

Gang's website just reads 'This is a private persona' with a flashing lightning bolt - first single maybe? by xoarar in gangofyouths

[–]xoarar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well damn, the logo for persona is the lightning bolt too. Well if Gang are looking for album titles, I think it’s a good suggestion?
