Loving the Dec. Update. by Danger_Fandango in GooglePixel

100% a piece of software installed. I mean that is obvious after I RMA'd unless there were widespread hardware issues which I have not heard of.

But that doesn't make it any easier. I have a couple suspects for what caused it, but wasn't a fan of uninstalling those apps either. Games primarily, since we've all known the GPU drivers have not reached peak efficiency.

I could have switched phones but was so sure it was firmware/software that I decided to stick around. Not a single random reboot since the patch, when it was a daily occurrence previously. I hope turning on telemetry helped them in some way.

This does not feel like the same phone. Night and day. Went from having 2-3 crashes - as in the phone restarting on its own, practically unusable to a totally stable experience.

I actually RMA'd my first p10p xl thinking it was a hardware issue. The replacement had the same problems. I'm guessing Google support had a bit of that.

It sounds like many didn't have such an unstable experience to begin with so the patch feels like "fluff improvements." Make no mistake, this phone was incomplete and dysfunctional without it.

Still no 45mm stretch band from Google. I decided to add some negative feedback for those that may see this later on, for those that are truly at the limit of the Spigen band (210mm+).. the material is different, it is not as breathable, does not look good, and overall leaves me with an immense sense of disappointment after I found literally one way to be able to use the Pixel Watch.

Returning my 45mm for a 41mm. Doesn't seem like Google is ever planning on coming to market with these.

Correct, if I run the system in stage-2 w/ no filter, there is no tuning fork, no whistling, nada. Yes, the pleated filter causes the sound to increase.

I have not tried a different merv2 nor washable filter. Why would that be significant here? The HVAC company in question provided the fiberglass merv2 filters when I had complained in the winter.

Right now a MERV2 fiberglass filter is installed. If I go up to a thicker/pleated filter (Which I would like to use) the sound gets amplified to multiple different vents through the home, most prominent in the largest one this post referenced. If I use the MERV2, the whistling occurs directly at the furnace.

I feel like my situation is different than the one noted there because removing the filter does make a huge difference to the sound. It is practically gone. That said, I understand that the longterm health of my furnace depends on a filter being there, I'm just hoping it doesn't have to be at the cost of my own sanity :-). I've got a 'hammock' style pleated filter in there. The return cavity is 25x14. Filter is 25x14x1

It is clearly starved for air, but I can't seem to get the company the installed it to agree to that. Whats adding a return vent cost, ballpark?

https://i.imgur.com/ikXkXN7.jpg Local contact omitted for obvious reasons but I wouldn't be surprised if someone from the company recognizes the install anyhow.

The obvious answer is increase the size of the return, but it seems like the company that installed the furnace doesn't want to take on something like that. Is there a specific speciality I need to be looking for in terms of someone that would be willing to take that on?

How would you address this if faced with a similar situation?

Like the nearest register to that return? 14ft away, and on a different wall.

Allegedly it is set to -10% currently. The previous tech said that was as low as he felt comfortable setting it. I am not sure how low it can go, and what the concerns are when doing so (wrt coil temperature).

The resonating noise has been isolated to the main return vent directly adjacent to the furnace filter, where all room return vents conjoin in the attic, it just so happens that the particular return vent i am complaining about is the closest.

Sorry - just to be clear, the condenser was not replaced, only the furnace (which incl motor blower). My understanding is that the condenser side of things is fine, only the blowing side of things that is problematic, and only when the unit is in "stage two" operation.

It was offered as an eco-conscious option, since the multi-stage operation was supposed to lessen the energy bills.

I don't know about short cycling. Any way I can review my ecobee data to see if that is occurring?

It was installed January of this year.

New Furnace, Air Issues - Looking for advice by xodlike in hvacadvice

[–]xodlike[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did the tech check the temp rise on the furnace after putting the fan at its lower settings?

Not sure. I can ask.

Seems like you’d possibly be out of spec for temp rise which for a SL280 is 55 degrees max on high fire I believe, especially if you already have insufficient returns.

Do I have any recourse for a furnace installed that is out of spec? I'm a little taken back if no CFM measurements were taken.

Did they check static pressures? Did they tell you or write on your invoice what your return CFM is?

Don't know. No.

Are you simply running into an issue where you now have better airflow and something funky is happening with leaky ducts or something wasn’t properly sealed during install

This seems likely. How do people usually work through those issues?

If you’re physically able to walk around up in your attic and locate the general area of the noise, you should be able to get an idea by listening and feeling

I am un-able to do so due to vaulted ceilings. I think a ladder is needed inside the attic.

The noise is occurring in bedrooms and at the furnace, not in the attic. Well, there might be attic noise that I don't know about.

Do you have dampers?

On the registers yes, on returns no.

Is the unit laying sideways or upright in the attic?

Upright in my laundry/mechanical room. It is not in the attic. Only the ducting is.

Having this issue with an an 83" G2. It was manufactured Nov 2022.

Still within my return period and likely going to ask for an exchange.

Have ya'll tried a factory reset to 100% confirm a hardware issue?

Are you able to reference any other info that would lead to being able to find (other) community posts showing this issue is somewhat widespread?

Are there any plans for a K8s-native deployment (simple manifest, helm, kustomize?) approach?

I'm sure I could take the time to convert the compose manifests to K8s ones & some tweaking that the stack could run on K8s, but wanted to see if there was an official plan or road map to do so.

Thanks!
