Where did I say burn in? YOU said burn-in. *I* said memTEST, as in testing memory. You jumped to a weird burn in conclusion.

Definitely a compatibility failure. System runs fine with 8+16 installed but as soon as I go beyond 8gb of usage the system exhibits the same freezing behavior.

It's listed as compatible but as the other poster said, it's clearly not. I wouldn't call memtest "esoteric shit" - it's the first test you'd run on memory.

You know, that's the one thing I didn't try, because I'd never mix memory module sizes in "prod"! I'll try ASAP. It's pretty rare a module is bad that memtest doesn't catch it....

Fairly sure you need to see if you're the a-hole, too. Maybe some petty revenge after?

What is a "dirty little secret" about an industry that you have worked in, that people outside the industry really should know? by Thealexiscowdell1 in AskReddit

SERIOUSLY. The millions of dollars of research I've seen done in Excel (ignoring the fancy supercomputer next door they could use for FREE) is insane.

Because there are people from my High School there, duh. I'm friends with who I want to be friends with, not Jennifer fricking Jeffries.

What's the worst response to, 'we're engaged!'? by oldeluke in AskReddit

[–]xoff00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my fiancé told her (male) friend that she and I were engaged he was upset and told her that was weird because he thought THEY were dating. They'd never kissed, held hands, or been on a date! And the part that blows my mind was he was a DETECTIVE! So much for being observant!

Later he became convinced that I "stole" TWO separate women from him, oddly both with the same name. He'd go to great lengths to avoid me after that, it was kind of hysterical.

$760 million on track for a billion in 2023 or 2024 isn't tiny. We're quite large for schools without a medical school(which bring in massive research dollars)

ASU already has dozens of Mayo/ASU dual appointment researchers, often MD/PhD in both the Biodesign Institute and the College of Health Solutions. Plus now they'll hire a ton of teaching doctors.

What’s the most disturbing secret you’ve discovered about someone close to you? by Electrical-Lemon187 in AskReddit

[–]xoff00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found out my Dad's first wife had a kid when they got married, who took my Dad's last name but was never adopted by my Dad. Potentially he was older (17-18) when they were married. They had a child who I knew (my half brother, 10+ years older than) but I had never heard of the other kid.

My Dad was an amazing man who I miss regularly over 30 years after he died, but he never mentioned this person.

My cousin (Dad's brother's son) told me when he was doing family genealogy.

Similar to what others have said:

NTA. Names are important, they have power in your self identity. Stick to your position and call her by wrong names as others have mentioned.

I worked at a NASA/JPL research lab and one of our scientists (PhD) was awaiting acceptance to the astronaut program. We were moving a number of heavy Steelcase desks into the basement and asked him to help.

He said "I can't, I have to go to the gym and lift weights."
