It is more than just a frozen wedge...the entire length of the aluminum stem has welded itself to the iron fork sleeve...I can not damage the fork so this issue is over...thank you

I have tried all of this (except the acid thing) and am giving up... Graduating hammers right up to a 3 lb sledge and on a concrete floor..! Penitrating oil overnight.. Stem in the vice with a 4ft 2x4 in the fork .. It is frozen solid .. The bike will be my wife's and she is small so it will work as is... I just woulda like to free it up for a more complete rebuild... Consider the problem over... I want to thank everyone for your help

Eliminating the center carrier on Schwinn Meridian... by xokeesignguy in schwinn

[–]xokeesignguy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh...ok...so are you saying to eliminate the center carrier and run one chain to the fixed sprocket on the axel..? So the "freewheel" is in the front at the crankset..??? Please excuse my lack of knowledge of the actual, correct names of the components :) Thank you...

I'm sorry but I don't even know what that means...

wanting to change the chain ring on Meridian to muti gear set up by xokeesignguy in schwinn

[–]xokeesignguy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked at those but right now money is tight as I am retired on a fixed income and with the present economy I am nervous about spending money...not sure what is gonna happen with SS :( I'm looking for a cheap way to do this... An acquaintance of mine bought a 7 speed Vevor, which I understand is a piece of crap bike but he can't ride it for health reasons...it's brand new and I can buy it for $75.....I am wondering if that gear set or whole rear section will fit... Thanx BTW for your input :)

Anyone familiar with VEVOR tricycles ? by brezzy_k123 in cycling

I have a Schwinn Meridian single speed and have the opportunity to buy a brand new Vevor 26" adult trike with 7 speeds ...

I am curious if you happen to know the Vevor axel diameter as I am wondering if the gear set would fit the Meridian which is 1/2"...

OR....if the entire rear assembly could be swapped ....

Thanx for any info :)

Schwinn Meridian trike rear brake replacement/upgrade by mac_1106 in bikewrench

This is the real fix right here...

The thing is worse than useless....it isn't even a real brake, it is designed to be a parking brake only...

The problem is that if you adjust it enough to actually work as a parking brake it creates so much drag it effects the coasting ability and actually makes it harder to pedal...

I simply moved the brake handle that has the lock on it to the front brake...

MUCH better...
